The Red-Breasted Nuthatches *love* pine nuts. Their beaks are perfectly designed for extracting them from cones. If you zoom in on the third pic you can see he’s extracting a prize #birds 🌿

Out on the pasture, the cow pats are still holding good numbers of Yellow Dung Flies & especially any that have been broken open, which I assume release more aroma & allows the flies to locate them.
The Swallows left plenty in September, for the incoming Redwings & Fieldfares of October.

A black and white, night photo from my camera. There's part of a wood fence on the left, the right side of the frame is taken up by a raccoon. Its nose is close to the camera, its white whiskers are visible and further back we can just see part of the raccoon's black face mask. Its nose looks quite boopable though I'm not sure the raccoon would want me booping its nose.

At Forde Abbey yesterday - there's a magnificent large sculpture of the house entitled, 'Tutus in Manibus' - Safe in our Hands.
On closer inspection, a Wren had nested in one of the wings, using the door as an entrance.
How I would have loved to have witnessed fledging day.

A hawk is perched on a fence as the sun has set and light is reduced. The bird is looking towards the camera while its back is mostly to us.
