If you look at 1980 the line is middle of the pack. It takes a different trajectory at the 1982 recession and basically does not change until 2008, when the Great Recession lowers the trajectory further until COVID, where it gets worse again.
Three GOP failures with no correction under Democrats.
Sure, but a lot of these small indie scenes cross-fertilized and even people who didn’t buy those records had heard them or at least heard of them. For every person I knew that bought Bleach, 10 people had a cassette copy or heard the album or had seen the band but not bought the album.
29.10.2025 23:02 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0But it was still definitive for that year for those of us who bought it. The first two CDs I ever bought (in 1989, in Seattle) were Bleach and Buzz Factory, and between me and my goth industrial roommate we had nearly every indie album in that thread.

Fuck every politician —Democratic or Republican— who got us to this point. They are a BETRAYAL of whatever democracy we pretend to have here at this point.
Can we talk about forming a new Union now?
In retrospect, McGinn was one of the better mayors of the last 25 years. Nickels is the only one who arguably did better. But Schell, Murray, Durkan, and Harrell have ranged from disappointing to bad.

Is Starlink making a mess of low orbit? Also yes.
It remains way past time to shut down this scam.

I think we should all let ourselves have a moment of pride and hope. They brought Kimmel back without forcing him to apologize or donate to Kirk’s wife, which was their stipulation at first.

@ dadandburied Guys, | understand the impulse, but actively wishing for someone’s death is classless and cruel. The Christian way is to demonize their lifestyle, remove their rights, eliminate their healthcare, dismantle their social support systems, implement systemic controls to marginalize and disenfranchise them, encourage violence towards their communities while whitewashing all history of such violence, make examples of anyone who supports or defends them, and then WAIT for them to die! Do better.
Correct.

05.09.2025 16:33 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0And don’t get me wrong, it’s not just this project that needs to be reworked. The second downtown tunnel is a huge waste of money and needs to go. The Ballard line should be automated with smaller stations and shorter trains running more often. Tacoma and Everett need to save billions too.
03.09.2025 02:02 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Ridership estimates for this line are now the same as the buses. It’s capturing the same riders. Models don’t consider TOD but where are the big upzones? This is five times the cost of the downtown Redmond Link extension and I doubt it adds more riders.
10-minutes buses all day would add riders.
But it would make travel times worse for most people. Instead, add a SODO busway ramp for the existing RapidRide buses, increase frequency to 10 minutes for the three main corridors (California/Fauntleroy, 35th, Delridge) and 5 minutes through Avalon, and save $5 billion or more.
