I hired and worked with Jamal for a year.

Trying not to stress / frustration cry so I’m just drinking local wine instead. Makes more sense.

“We will comply. We will not comply. We will partially comply. We’ll pay half. We’ll pay slightly more than half. We’ll do it but not bc a judge told us to. We are appealing! We withdraw the appeal. We’re paying”
This is one of those times where I breathe a sigh of relief that I had the mindset back then to write a story like that because now we need it, lol.
Local journalism FTW.
Breaking: A federal appeals court just denied a last-minute bid by the Trump admin to temporarily halt some SNAP funding during the shutdown.

All of my reporting indicates that it was not.
It was — by all accounts — a public event.
Here’s that story: www.spokesman.com/stories/2025...
As far as civil, that is not the AG jurisdiction

Idaho AG Raul Labrador has cleared Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris of any wrongdoing in the matter.
Norris is seen putting hands on Borrenpohl before directing her removal in multiple videos.
Now let me be clear, the jury’s decision doesn’t shield him from deportation.
That was *somewhat* paused during trial prep but we don’t know what he faces now that he’s out of jail.
A federal jury tonight found Martin Diaz, the Spokane man fighting deportation, “not guilty” of assaulting a Border Patrol agent when they tackled him outside of his home earlier this year.
He has been in the U.S. since he was 2 years old.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.
certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.
SCOOP: Idaho’s health department quietly declined the entirety of its annual $1.5 million federal Title X funding in April, leaving patients statewide without any access to the family planning program.

You also only follow me and our health reporter on here, and those are the only two Spokesman reporters you have posted angrily about on Facebook (in your August post). Would love to be civil.
For your knowledge, I also filed a request for these records 6 months ago, and just got them back recently. 6k pages had to be redacted for privacy. Just so you know.

I understand your point, but posting something on Facebook is not the same as a news story.

That’s all. End of rant.
it’s a place I never thought I would care about at all; and now I realize the VALUE in what happens here and how much I love it. I’ve built relationships with sources & people that I couldn’t bear to leave. So if you’re wondering why local journalists go, or why they stay, maybe consider all this.
