24.11.2025 02:40 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The tyranny of the average as a stupid statistic. It could be true for the average driver or vehicle, when that includes buses and trucks that are operating 12+ hours a day.
The median is likely a different, much lower, number.
I'm with you - social media needs to be regulated across the board. The business model that drives algorithmic addiction is a public health crisis and should probably be outlawed.
AND... the current dangers are especially acute for children and young teenagers, and we need to protect them now.
With the moves towards a social media ban for kids here in Aotearoa, and the imminent one in Australia, I'm still perplexed that this objection continues to be raised.
Is it that there are now whole generations of internet users who weren't around for the age of common-interest forums?

18.11.2025 04:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was on stage at a event recently as part of a panel. A rep from a government agency tasked with awarding large grants said that they prefer to invest in "well-established businessmen" (sic & ๐คฎ) because when things get tough "they have a well-established network to fall back on".

Hard to look at both ends of a chain, see they're both rusty, and not assume the rest of the chain is rusty too.
Mainly because they just played the Seahawks

It will be called Techo Economics.

Beleiveing in fairy tales is NOT maturity
Ugh, the unchallenged framing! A "mature" conversation?
Where is an opposition MP's voice in that reporting?
A mature conversation would be just that, mature and between more than one person. Instead we get an infantile monologue that leads to "...sell stuff, build roads"
It would appear that their aim is to playact as a progressive opposition, but covertly achieve a maintenance of the status quo in service of monied interests.
