There's more to see, more to say...
Here's my story about the movie @realgdt.bsky.social knew he had to make before time ran out.
#Frankenstein
www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/st...
The movie itself is heartbreakingβan operatic tragedy.
Shelley's book, subtitled "The Modern Prometheus," is often seen as a warning about heedless science.
But del Toro's #Frankenstein is about toxic family. βItβs parents and children,β Jacob Elordi says. βFathers and sons, particularly.β
The gallows humor is endless on the #Frankenstein set.
28.07.2025 12:26 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Today, it's creation day.
Oscar Isaac's Victor Frankenstein is stitching together what @realgdt.bsky.social calls "the quilt": the body of his resurrected experiment.
The ruins of a water tower in the Carpathian mountains is his laboratory. The Medusa fountain bears the appropriate expression.
Our visit to #Frankenstein begins:
A naked dead man lies face down just inside the doorway. Livers, hearts, stomachs & other vitals are stacked on shelves inside the corridor.
Severed limbs are breadcrumbs leading to Guillermo del Toro inside the soundstage, making the movie of a lifetime...
"I beheld the wretchβthe miserable monster whom I had created... His eyes, if eyes they may be called, were fixed on me.β So Mary Shelley wrote in 1818.
Elordi's creature is very different from Karloff, with kintsugi-like red sutures resembling a shattered marble statue fused back together.

Very different from the 1930s version. But then, children are never quite the same as their parents.

The four stars thought it would be a big break, but it was actually just a cheap-o ploy to hold onto film rights.
This is their infuriating, funny, and surprising story:
