Subway Builder is so funny, because thereβs no reason my 26th/31st St crosstown line from King Dr to Cicero should be as successful as it is lol

08.11.2025 04:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I had assumed the issue was going from the 66 to points south, not north
08.11.2025 04:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ah, thatβs my south side bias lol, Chicago Ave to N LSD is a foreign concept to me.
I will say, operations-wise, the buses probably save time by not getting stuck behind the 3 buses that need to both stop, then make a right on Chicago Ave
That, and lowkey they donβt really need to. 3/151/Red is more than enough
08.11.2025 03:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Not an official one, Iβm being somewhat premature; Nora Leershen stated that sheβd like to use some of the funding from the recent bill to pursue 24hr Orange Line service

07.11.2025 03:22 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Should I start a medium or substack or something like that? Not entirely sure what exactly Iβd talk about, but definitely transit related
04.11.2025 15:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was proud to join @mayorbmscott.bsky.social this morning to unveil the Naloxone OneBoxes installed at @mta.maryland.gov Penn North Metro. We're partnering with Baltimore City to provide access to lifesaving resources across our system & providing training for employees. #SeriousAboutSafety
03.11.2025 19:30 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Fare-free can be good for small to medium transit agencies (especially not great ones like GRTC) that werenβt bringing in much in farebox revenue in the first place.
Curious to know if the increase in ridership is from former/would-be car trips vs trips that wouldβve been walked/biked otherwise.
Ok, time to be more active on this app lol
03.11.2025 20:34 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Unfortunately a waste of a transit center. While connections across the Stevenson arenβt great, the 307 will one day be extended to Pace SW &/or Bridgeview Courthouse as Pulse Harlem, & thereβs really no other route to send here that makes sense (unless demand for 379 short trips starts cropping up)
03.11.2025 17:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 099. Physical media is good, and if you're not going to get into vinyl and celluloid you should at least get into CDs and books.
03.11.2025 17:10 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Chicago in subway builder is hilarious because you can just use the various Metra ROWs and have your lines go gangbusters for cheap lol
03.11.2025 15:34 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Reservations about the NITA aside, itβs nice to have a fully funded CTA (and Metra & Pace). Excited for what service can be improved now!
03.11.2025 15:30 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So weird to be waiting at MDW for a flight to LGA and not DCA/BWI
15.09.2025 09:51 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Took the Hiawatha for the second time yesterday and Iβm even more convinced there needs to be a stop in Gurnee. Perfectly situated btwn downtown Waukegan, Gurnee Mills and Six Flags, Iβm sure the ridership projections would go gangbusters
14.09.2025 17:34 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0MDW still detouring orange line passengers thru baggage claim lol
13.09.2025 01:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs so funny that Passengers United claims to be a transit advocacy organization when they literally never support an expansion of transit service. This is nonsense.
08.09.2025 00:39 β π 51 π 4 π¬ 5 π 1Well, one half of that statement is true
09.08.2025 04:31 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0WMATA didnβt solely increase service by just reducing costs tho, and many of those savings were one-time budget efficiencies. Iβm struggling to think of any examples by a serious transit agency where βreduce costsβ was the only lever that lead to an increase in service
09.08.2025 04:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0We donβt use this rhetoric for streets & expressways (or, I suppose, weβve just now started), and folks there can often be less at fault than anyone hit by a Brightline train
I donβt understand the need to carry water for those who deride common sense and actively seek Darwin awards
In ALX, you generally either lived within walking distance of the train or a bus to Pentagon & most stations didnβt have parking. Now that taking the bus is free and parking is not, it may become a alternative to get to the red line if the trip is attractive enough, esp for Shady Grove or Rockville
10.07.2025 01:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Much like in Alexandria, where I lived for the past 3 yes, free bus will not move the needle significantly for folks who take the train or switch to Metrobus. One difference tho, it may get ppl to switch taking the bus to the train, since there are many more stations with parking in MoCo than ALX
10.07.2025 01:53 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Everyone is clamoring to use this as a βsee, NYC can do it toβ ignoring that:
- MTA has already replaced its fare boxes; Ride-On has not
- MTA doesnβt have a 20% farebox recovery ratio
- MTA operates more than buses
Free buses/transit makes sense for small/medium localitiesβ NYC is not that
Or just a really nasty anti-urban/city streak in politics. You really see it in PA and Maryland politics. Nevermind theyβre the economic engines for the state; theyβre crime ridden and full of freeloaders and are in dire need of reform and re-education etc etc
08.07.2025 15:43 β π 10 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Thatβs solvable via something like the IRT Lex transfer to the 7 train and making sure the bottom platform is a wider or
10.07.2025 00:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm extremely biased, but yes! Or just done median for both platforms
10.07.2025 00:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not housing, but not horrible I suppose. At least itβll no longer be a concrete eyesore
13.06.2025 22:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good news Chicago! Changes to CTA routes are happening that will result in increased service and new connections. Take a read, esp if you ride the 53, 53A or 93!:
