"Who controls the past controls the future."

These "small" issues will get glossed over as we try to hold back the deluge of illegal and unethical activity from this administration, but the truth is that small instances like this pile up.

We can't afford to forget.

Just a reminder: this will matter for more than queer people.

The more we let this administration into our bedrooms, our doctor's offices, and our private lives, the more they will take.

Sadly, a lot of people in power are cosigning on each other's bullshit.

I've made a similar sentiment before, but....

And this doesn't excuse any of her behaviors in the past (or the future).

But let's not put down a good statement just because we don't like the person who made it.

Shocked to see it, but it’s true: Marjorie Taylor Greene just became the first Republican in Congress(MAGA-aligned or otherwise)to call what’s happening in Gaza a genocide.

While we're at it, let's also actively practice having uncomfortable conversations.

At some point, this country stopped allowing nuance and curiosity into conversations, because those things can be uncomfortable.

We need to grapple with new concepts, though. It's how we grow.

We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.

I know I am absolutely on at least one list, simply for being trans and wanting a passport that matches who I am.

But I'm far from the only one, and we are far from the only group being targeted.

I do make sure to talk to whoever I can about the harsh realities facing us.

This should not surprise anyone.

But it should infuriate you.

Remember, just because you aren't a part of a persecuted group today does not guarantee you will be safe from persecution tomorrow.

The optimist in me hopes this means that when there is a reckoning, it will make it easy to hold people to account.

However, the cynic in me is worried America won't be able to come back from this.

Here's hoping it's my cynicism that's misplaced.

I've noticed that as the United States has become increasingly dishonest and corrupt, cover-ups no longer need to be conducted in secret.

Reckless, unbridled hate. It seems like Trump and his ilk are trying to win an "evil personified" award.

But as bad as they are, what's killing me more are people who still defend him. They are lost to me.

Supporting this administration right now means you support the worst of humanity.

Maxwell was already convicted and imprisoned.

Epstein was imprisoned.

There is no reason to consider any immunity or pardon unless they are tampering with a witness.

Look, if Clinton is involved, then yes, by all means, hold him to account.

But we can't let Trump just throw others under the bus so that he gets away with his own crimes.

I'm sick of people continuing to fall for this. When Trump points the finger at others, it's because of his own guilt.

At the absolute bare minimum, you would think this would be enough to stop defending him.

But here we are 🤬

Personally, if my government had placed a corrupt rapist in power that's fiddling with pardoning child rape trafficking criminals to cover up his participation or name on files related to child rape trafficking, that would be enough reason to overthrow it. Wild.

Yep.

And will they differentiate between different conditions and diagnoses? Absolutely not.

When someone says, "well, they aren't talking about you/me" I roll my eyes.

If there's something this administration has been consistent on, it's causing pain no matter who you are.

Every week, it's worth remembering "First, they came for..."

As a trans woman, I am mortified for my fellow Americans, but I am also in a state of perpetual anxiety, wondering when I will be next.

I still can't understand why Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion make Republicans see red and foam at the mouth.

It seems to me that those words should be synonymous with America.

And to hear that some think empathy is a problem?

Being that hateful 24/7 must be tiring.

The Trump administration has taken its anti-diversity agenda to such extremes that it's killing good infrastructure projects - including roadway safety improvements that I worked on with congressional Republicans - just because they went to disadvantaged areas.

And who gets to make the decision about who is mentally ill or not?

Oh, wait...

This is beyond abhorrent.

TACO signed an executive order to send any person with a mental illness to a detention camp.

No, I am not exaggerating.

Know who else did that?

Yes!

Let's keep up the pressure on all fronts. Late night shows, highway signs, online platforms.

He wants this to blow over - we can't let it.

Resistance takes many forms.

For some of us, simply existing is resistance.

For others, we have the means and ability to take the fight to them.
