DoD official responds: Yes... If the basis was that the person published information that was not otherwise approved for release by the Department. Senator Warren Responds: Whoa.
Trumpβs nominee to be the Armyβs lawyer is confused about the First Amendment.
Independent journalists must be free to report the facts without fear of retaliation.
If we're sending troops to war under false pretenses, Americans have a right to know.
This is very true and quite shocking. The majority take for granted the benefits we see from better nutrition, healthier environment, safer workplace and vaccines. They ignore how quickly we could lose it, but you can see those prematurely aged faces and stooped postures in poor UK areas today.

How can the most powerful, most wealthy, country in the world fail so badly. Clearly, there is a fine line between strength and weakness, but currently, the word that comes to mind that describes the current USA gov is INCOMPETENT! So much childlike finger pointing. Ridiculous.

After US hospitals were acquired by private equity firms, patient death rates in the emergency depts rose by 13% compared with similar hospitals.
PE cut staffing, wages, investment; hiked profits.
People killed for profit.
Yet UK handing healthcare to PE.
A hugely underreported scandal.
Those responsible still not adequately held to account.
An important, but infuriating watch.
The PFI disaster
Wes Streeting readies more of the NHS for privatisation. Hands Β£6m to advisers.
NHS will be a shell doling out contracts to private equity and corporations. Profits guaranteed.
Money will buy less. Higher taxes, lower value.
Say NO to privatisation of the NHS.
In a UN speech today, President Trump said that "all of these [climate] predictions were wrong".
Back in 2019 I led a research effort to digitize old climate model projections and assess how well they did. Turns out they got future warming pretty spot on!
@cyclingnews.com Can there be a campaign that reminds our cycling community that it is not OK to discard litter on the roadside outside organised events? Some poor local residents have to clear it up afterwards. It gives all cyclists a bad name.
24.09.2025 07:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Reform's plan for a benefit clampdown Sir, Regarding Reform's plan to ban foreigners from claiming benefits ("Farage visas would make it harder to settle in the UK", news, Sep 22; "Time's Up", leading article, Sep 23), in my small company for the past ten years we have employed, on a yearly average, 32 eastern European people, two of them in senior management positions. They all pay British taxes and have had little or no unexplained absences to date. Sick leave for them is extremely low. As far as I am aware, none of them is claiming benefits for dependants. These diligent people provide compassionate care for their clients, living with them for a few weeks at a time. During the pandemic they were responsible for ensuring zero transmission of the virus to people in their care. I feel utterly ashamed that many of them will be reading about Nigel Farage's plan on their various social media platforms this morning. Chrstina Sell Managing director, Arbour
Our politics and media have become viciously obsessed with immigration. Farage has made sure of it. And in that obsession, theyβve all lost sight of the people they target. Fellow human beings trying to live and belong somewhere.
Shame on everyone responsible for this daily inhumanity
(Letter,Times)
The even more unbelievable crime fact (which I learned relatively recently) is that burglary has fallen by more than 90% since the 1990s.
Did anyone notice? Nope. Does anyone believe it? Nope. But is is true? It is!
