I find myself dreading those end of the year summaries. You know the ones where they list notable things that happened in 2025? It’s been a terrible year. I could frame it with a positive spin, I suppose. Lots of good people stepped up and fought the terribleness. But still. A terrible year.

The Prairie Band Potawatomi tribe is seriously awesome. In a nutshell, they almost got involved with ICE, tribal leadership noticed, fired the people who set up the deal, and terminated the contract. They turned down over 30 million dollars, and trust me, they could really use that money.

I simply do not understand how anyone could object to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Perhaps if we always spell it out instead of using the initials. Make them talk it out. Using DEI as a thing has just given them a new way to use their inclination to discriminate without having to own it.

Teaching myself to paint. Painting most afternoons restarts my thought. The phrase, “Have you turned it off and back on again?” comes to mind.

I suspect that that’s kind of stinky. As a Kansan, I don’t know what low tide smells like, but I’ll give you three sympathy anyway.

I’ve read a lot of books so it was hard to narrow down. So I decided on the one that has impacted my decisions since I read it in 1964. “Silent Spring” by Rachel Carson.

This was exactly what I needed.

I hate that the Preppers are feeling all prepared. Now I have to go to Costco and stock up on rice, beans, and canned goods. At least my daughter gave me a bidet a couple of years ago, so I don’t have to hoard toilet paper.

I do not understand why the super rich want to remake the U.S. in the image of Russia. Russia doesn’t look that good, even for their super rich. Won’t isolating us from the rest of the world make it no fun for them? I think I must not understand the super rich at all.

I am really frustrated that the press is discussing the destruction of USAID as something that has happened rather than an illegal action that will likely be undone in two weeks when courts tell the world that it was illegal.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are good things to take into consideration when hiring. The initials DEI have become the current code for belittling races other than white. If a person uses the acronym DEI in that way you are not fooling us. We know what you are.

He's not blaming DEI, he's blaming women and non white people.

Jennifer Rubin of The Contrarian coined a word that I intend to use at the next opportunity. Suckuppery. Good one. And with the current President loving a good suck up, I should have the opportunity to use it.

I know what is happening today. I don’t need to watch. I’m going to work on a painting, clean my sewing room, eat leftovers, and play with my daughter’s dog. I have some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream for emergencies.

Before the election I was feeling hope. It was wonderful. Now that hope has been dashed, I am afraid to allow any hope, for fear of feeling that loss of hope again. Not sure how to get past that fear. Phooey.
