Yeah, I think it works on that level too, but I think part of his appeal is the polemic nature of his work. Why have a 2-minute hate when you could have a 10-minute hate at a low low price of $7/month?

The "10,000 word premium newsletter" promotional schtick is very interesting. I think it works because his audience wants to feel angrier for longer.

Making a revenge album is probably not a sign of a well-adjusted personality but Lily Allen's "West End Girl" has some real earworms.

People are making a lot out of Casey Newton's quotes in this story, but I think it's notable not so much that he had something to say but was willing to be named saying it. There are plenty of other unnamed people quoted in the story.
