Meta Plans to Add Facial Recognition Technology to Its Smart Glasses

Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think we’re too stupid to fight back.

Their internal memo: “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

it's weird to see people complain about Bad Bunny's performance being in Spanish when there have been entire operas in Italian, German and French performed in the US and the top song of the last two years, K-Pop Demon Hunters' "Golden" has lyrics in Korean

again we do not really do a good job of explaining how wealthy people like Jeff Bezos are

his net worth is $253.2 billion.
so he could take one million dollars, and just light it on fire
and then do it again tomorrow
and again the day after that
and then do it every day for 693 years and 8 months

An excerpt from Roger Fisher’s March 1981 article in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, titled “Preventing Nuclear War”:

“My suggestion was quite simple: Put that needed code number in a little capsule, and then implant that capsule right next to the heart of a volunteer. The volunteer would carry a big, heavy butcher knife as he accompanied the president. If ever the president wanted to fire nuclear weapons, the only way he could do so would be for him, first, with his own hands, to kill one human being. The president says, ‘George, I’m sorry, but tens of millions must die.’ He has to look someone in the eye and realize what death is—what an innocent death is. Blood on the White House carpet. It’s reality brought home.

When I suggested this to friends in the Pentagon, they said, ‘My God, that’s terrible. Having to kill someone would distort the president’s judgment. He might never push the button.’”

I felt like making some art last night/today and could have made something beautiful and/or meaningful but I made this instead.

It's a Barbie Yaga Malibu Dream Hut.

No regrets. Can't defeat fascism without joy.

So, we’ve got a three-panel comic here, with two people on each panel.

The first panel is in the 2000’s (You can tell because I’ve written ‘2000’s’ below it), and one person is holding a vinyl record and talking to the other person who’s listening to an ipod and the record person is saying, “Yeah, but this sounds so much better”

In the next panel, this time in the 2010’s (Can you believe 2010 is like 15 years ago now? That’s mad) - anyway is this one there’s a person holding a stack of books and they;re talking to someone reading off a tablet, and they’re saying “...and you can’t beat a real book…” - Yep, that’s right, there’s a pattern emerging here! Just wait till you see where this goes!

So, Panel 3 and we’ve caught up to the 2020’s - waheeey! This time there’s a person using AI on a laptop, and the other person is holding up an entire human being and they’re saying “OH Yeah? Ever used a Real Artist?” and the artist is all like “hey”

Anyway. If you can, hire a human to create stuff. Cheers.

I don’t know which conservative Democrats need to hear this history lesson, but the German elected officials who voted to fund the Gestapo were considered Nazi collaborators.

History is watching.

When Trump says it won’t end up costing the United States to illegally invade and “control” Venezuela because of the value of their oil, he means there will be a massive public cost, but that’s ok because private companies and oligarchs, including his family, will make a ton of money.
