Would have liked Sesko / Mbeumo to have joined earlier for full pre-seasons (and any further signings obviously) but this side of things is refreshing and brings a bit more hope / excitement for these transfers than there already was because of the desire they've shown to join.

If this was the only way you could get Baleba....I still wouldn't do it. Even though I understand the rationale for doing it and I know many would reluctantly do it.

Of course, it's just a hypothetical. Ideally we get rid of Sancho, Antony, Malacia to fund this deal.

Oh great we’ve got a sinkhole on our street and the council turn up 4.5 hours later and the first thing they do is wreck their van ffs

Cunha seems like he's got a nasty side to him. Competitive and aggressive but with actual quality on the ball to go with it. We've missed that. All of our best teams had high class footballers but they were top tier competitors as well.

What is Declan Rice doing in there?!?! Lol.

Apparently the guy was killed in a "sudden and unprovoked attack". Absolutely no idea why this buffalo, named Black Death, would charge him and try to hurt him. All he was doing was following the buffalo around trying to kill it. The buffalo must be woke and anti-gun.

This is very interesting.

Joking aside, I do hope Hojlund gets a chance to develop. I think there's a very good striker lurking inside him. We've seen some brilliant stuff from him, especially in his first season, but just not often enough. Needs help with his game intelligence cos he has the physical attributes.

I liked it a lot. It was great to watch a movie without having to know what happened in the TV series and other movies. Thunderbolts was good overall but I missed some of the character stories in other marvel stuff so didn't quite get into it.

Just watched a 5 minute highlight reel and it's pretty impressive. Realistically, I think we're favourites for the quadruple with him up front.

But....i'd prefer to have a top level CM. With Mbuemo & Cunha added you'd think the forward line is strengthened enough. The midfield is a huge weakness and, now that we have those two, a top tier CM would have a bigger impact than a top tier CF.

He may turn out to be top tier. I do think that if he bags in his first few games, he'll be fine. It's one of them that will come down to the narrative and pressure, I think.

06.08.2025 07:45 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I would have preferred a midfielder. That said, I'm not pissed off. It's just a lot of money for a player with a lot to prove still. From a league where we don't have a good history of signing players.

06.08.2025 07:44 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Seems like another young promising striker for 70m. I feel like a more experienced player would have been better.

Feel like Sesko is Hojlund 2.0. I'd rather spend the money on a top tier CM (although I couldn't name one who is available & would want to join us).

Target players with quality but, and very importantly, also with the right mentality and character. That's a huge priority. For me they must be comfortable on the ball, have the right competitiveness, be intelligent & physically ready (pace, work rate). Not easy to find but that's the criteria.

05.08.2025 08:08 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The only thinking we should be doing about the past is how to learn from the mistakes. Otherwise, build a squad for the future to get us moving back up the table. Aiming for a return to the CL, win a cup and continue from there.

05.08.2025 08:08 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes....United "should have" signed Kane....

...& Mbappe & Bellingham & De Jong & Nuno Mendes & Hakimi & Donarumma and Modric & Bale & Haaland & blah blah blah.

Who thinks they would have wanted to join this shit show, though? We've spent money poorly but players have also chosen other clubs.

Get rid of this waster. An absolute embarrassment of a professional.

04.08.2025 22:52 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Meant to say that a top class CM would have a significantly bigger impact than a top class striker.

04.08.2025 22:41 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Fully agree. Ugarte isn't good enough on the ball and even off the ball he floats in and out of games. A top class central midfielder would have a significantly bigger impact on this side than a top class CM. But...a decent striker would have a bigger impact than a decent CM. We need top quality.

04.08.2025 22:27 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don't know Sesko and whether he's a good player or not but the stories are more about Newcastle agreeing a fee rather than him holding out for them. That said, if he does actually choose them over us, I agree completely with your point.

04.08.2025 22:17 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Clearly the four centuries are a great achievement but I do think there is a need for him to work out why he sometimes has a mental block. In this series and others, he goes big or he goes home. Would have been nice to see a hard fought 50 or even 40-45 somewhere in there. At Lords for example.

04.08.2025 22:15 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I agree.

I don't know you but good luck! Wishing you all the best in this. Ive been on the painful side of a job hunt so I hope this goes well for you.

Genuinely thought this was an Onion headline.

As a note, VAR could learn a thing or two from how it's done in cricket. Margin of error isn't really taken into account for offsides. And it seems inconsistent. The semi automatic offsides should hopefully help but I'm wondering how to put the responsibility back onto the ref on the pitch.

04.08.2025 19:38 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Had it gone the other way would it be unfair to the bowler? The reason why the DRS works is because there is a clear understanding of the margins of error and there is still an onus on the umpire to make the decision. Why is that suddenly an issue?

04.08.2025 19:38 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I've listened to a few podcast reactions to the test match today and some English podcasters are saying the Overton LBW Is harsh. Just clipping is now suddenly unfair to the batsman? Why? There's a margin of error to the tracker so it's given to the umpire. That's been the rule for donkeys years.

It's been said before but the coverage in cricket is so good. From commentary to punditry to analysis....it's miles ahead of football.
