Are you looking to get a piece of custom jewellery made for your gf/bf/spouse/crush for valentine’s?
I know Christmas is only weeks away, but making jewellery takes time, so if you *are*, I have commissions open now for Feb.
Plz don’t DM in the last week of Jan. That’s not how this works 😂
Almost finished now, just need to add a chain..

Even if it’s electro-etched brass enameled pins…
I absolutely love this. I was looking at a big moonstone cab bought in Tucson last year and still haven’t made anything with it. Inspiration alludes me but you’ve done amazing work here. I love it.

shares on this would really help me out! the gift project is great but the margins on it are much thinner than on my other work, so i can't pay the bills with just it.
09.11.2024 15:45 — 👍 13 🔁 12 💬 0 📌 1Seems like a fair limit tbh. Not a bad idea to just keep it. Stops the bots and forces users that are human put their phone down for a wee while.
10.11.2024 02:09 — 👍 8 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Transparent especially. Red is the hardest colour I’m told. It. Certainly was for me.
09.11.2024 22:36 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Thank you! Tho just to add to my terminal ineptitude that ring *isnt* on my site now cos I sold it. Tho I can easily make another etc, so I should put it back up. But if anyone reads this and wants one, just send me a message lol
09.11.2024 21:34 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Think it helps it was originally conceived by twitters creators…this is what Twitter *should* have become.
09.11.2024 21:32 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Oh now that is stunning!
The red is spectacular. I had a badge I was commissioned to make for a submariner in 18ct a couple of years ago and the original badge the navy hand out (tin ofc) used resin (cos, cheap) and I tried hard to use vitreous but couldn’t get that perfect deep red & used resin!
Would probably have been useful to put that in there, wouldn’t it?
Why are there so many folk with ADHD who make things but aren’t great at sales? Hard to say, hard to say. 🤦♂️

I shall. I usually just buy gems from my bulk supplier but they’re rubbish for more unique stuff…
09.11.2024 20:45 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I’m a jeweller. You make pretty stuff too. I follows. Simple.
09.11.2024 20:43 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Avoid Scheele’s Green. It’s basically arsenic.
09.11.2024 20:42 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I can never get my sulphur to go that nice black! I did just switch from using a pre-prepared gel to making my own from powder tho so I’ll have to see if it’s better. This piece here was the last time I tried to get a good weathering/ageing and it wasn’t as black as I’d have liked.
09.11.2024 20:36 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Oddly I have done a fair bit of work with cold enamel (ie powder resin), and some torch-fired enamel like this flag pin, but I’ve had my kiln for a year now and it even has an enamelling door (so you can side enamel pieces in/out without opening the kiln) but haven’t used it for enamel yet.
09.11.2024 20:34 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yes! That was what I’d meant (sorry if it wasn’t clear!). When I see amazing work like that I look at mine and go “damnit why isn’t mine that good?” But we all do that. And your work is stunning.
09.11.2024 20:30 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Same to both of you!
09.11.2024 20:29 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Same. That’s a really clean cast as well. Did you liver-of-sulphur that, or is it enamel? It’s really well blacked…
09.11.2024 20:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0No worries. If you need any hints/tips hit me up.
For silver you want to use copper nitrate or silver nitrate to electro (I wouldn’t do acids personally. Dangerous af) and keep the volts under 3.
For a resist, lookup UV resist paint. It smells real bad. Used for circuitboard making.
