Tomorrow
Tuesday becomes elastic
like a shadow stretched under the sun
Wednesday buries itself
in laundry and fiscal responsibilities
Thursday mutters about hospitals and feeds you seeds and sorrow
Concerning the remains of days rabbits and hats come to mind
the jiggery-pokery trickery of the temporal magician

Tomorrow Tuesday becomes elastic like a shadow stretched under the sun Wednesday buries itself in laundry and fiscal responsibilities Thursday mutters about hospitals and feeds you seeds and sorrow Concerning the remains of days rabbits and hats come to mind the jiggery-pokery trickery of the temporal magician

. @jsaphra.bsky.social’s sonnet eschews sentiment while remaining fully responsive to the turn of the seasons:

…All these questions to the heart as if
it has some agency. It’s just a metaphor
for faith among the ruins, a way to live
while knowing what we take, then take some more…

@nytimes.com I'm a big fan and you do great work - and yet I'm shocked at your generally moderate and reasoned tone about the coup taking place. This is not business as usual and these are terrifying times. Please change your tune and raise the alarm.

We might yearn for paradise, temporal or spiritual. But to our descendents our habitable planet will look like an almost unimaginable paradise. No tech fantasy, no space station or controlled environment will ever compare.
Fight for what we have. This is our heaven, and there can be no other.
