Seeing the destruction of the White House makes me emotional because Trump is so visibly flaunting the absence of constraints to his abuse of authority.
Heβs tearing down parts of the Peopleβs House to construct a massive fascist temple where people will come to pay tribute to him.
Itβs grotesque.
This is not a legally difficult question. You can't tear down part of a building just because you reside in it if you don't own the building.
Even if you pay to tear it down you can't do that.

The Party could not be overthrown from within. Its enemies, if it had any enemies, had no way of coming together or even of identifying one another. Even if the legendary Brotherhood existed, as just possibly it might, it was inconceivable that its members could ever assemble in larger numbers than twos and threes. Rebellion meant a look in the eyes, an inflection of the voice; at the most, an occasional whispered word. But the proles, if only they could somehow become conscious of their own strength, would have no need to conspire. They need only to rise up and shake themselves like a horse shaking off flies. If they chose they could blow the Party to pieces tomorrow morning. Surely sooner or later it must occur to them to do it.
I was thinking about this after No Kings.

Man we suck at terrorism.
Telling moment: I was walking back from the rally, but a couple miles from it, carrying nothing but my gigantic American flag. An eight year old on his bike sees me with it and yells "No Kings!!" with absolute conviction.
My friends, they have lost the flag.
Yesterday, we made history. Around 7 MILLION people across the United States stood up to say #NoKings, with allies around the world in countries like Japan, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia joining us in solidarity.
BUT OUR FIGHT IS NOT OVER.
Of the 2,500 No Kings gatherings across America, few were more saturated in American historyβin flags and historical costumesβthan the one on the Battle Green in Lexington, where the Minutemen fought another king 250 years ago. https://t.co/QmNkMyKtgF

A photograph from the 1988 ACT UP demonstration outside the FDA. Many people are participating in a die-in on the front steps, holding mock tombstones with messages like "RIP - killed by the FDA" and "Dead from lack of drugs." A line of police officers (some with classic 80s mustaches) wearing riot helmets stands between them and the building; one cop wearing white gloves is walking through the demonstrators. Affixed to the 2nd story windows of the building is a series of posters and a large blank banner reading Silence = Death.
This week in 1988: 1,000+ ACT UP demonstrators shut down the FDA headquarters, demanding (and eventually winning) action on developing HIV/AIDS treatments. ACT UP's militant and creative actions always included powerful visual artwork, and paved the way for movements in the decades to come.
