After three years of waiting time, I will attend #LPS25 on Thursday and Friday! I'm looking forward to hear what other people are working on in the wildfire space, and presenting my own ongoing work as a poster on Thursday. If you see me, please come over and tell me about your work!

Do they radiate enough heat to be found during flyovers or do you really just have to wait for them to "resurrect"? I could imagine, for example, that snow cover would melt in spots with underground fires, but not in the surrounding areas.

I also talked about a new study on zombie fires. We found that smoldering can overwinter in tree boles or thick peat. It leads to greater fire severity with more combustion. @agu.org 5/
