Beautiful. They're my favourite flower. (Sad about the other 49, though)

My goal in life is to be Joan, in this scenario. So that when friends and family come across really strange books in secondhand shops and say "This is so odd. Who on earth could possible want to read this??", a little voice in their head goes, "Actually, maybe Claire?"

Still some places left on the first of these Creative Quiet Day, if anyone is looking for a space to reflect and pray and chat, this coming Saturday. "Finding God in Threads and Patches"

Yes, it's listed, as is Raine - which boggled our minds in the 90s, when I spend a year living in it. (I quite liked having my own balconies, though!)

Mending as an act of rebellion, on many levels. I love this!

Yes. I was expecting a fun whodunit with a convoluted plot and big name cameos and I got all that. I wasn't expecting the thoughtful exploration of vocation and the stories that shape us. Very moving in places.

I'm often really resistant and cautious about seeing films made of books I've loved for decades, in case they do it *wrong*. But yeah, the trailer looks pretty amazing!

Overheard in the drop-in this morning:
Bloke 1: Anyone got any suggestions for an easy Valantine's Day present I could give?
Bloke 2: Cold, hard cash!

It's been a while since I've had a policing related #TheArchers question for him. I'm sure he'll be pleased 😁. I think the last ones were along the lines of "How much trouble is Harrison actually in??" after he let slip things he should not have let slip, about Harry WhatshHisFace and his drinking

That makes some things simpler. And other things more complicated. Hope you find a place to land soon πŸ™

That's a good way of phrasing it. Yes, me too.

It's so hard. I found the secrecy hard too - having to keep things going, and planning future events in your current role, as if you're absolutely going to be there for them and you're fully committed to the place, while knowing you're seeking to be elsewhere.

A post from Mastodon by Rod Hilton: "He talked about electric cars. I don't know anything about cars, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Then he talked about rockets. I don't know anything about rockets, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Now he talks about software. I happen to know a lot about software & Elon Musk is saying the stupidest shit I've ever heard anyone say, so when people say he's a genius I figure I should stay the hell away from his cars and rockets."

My son sent me this recently, which has strong echos.

I'll be right back. I'm just going to show my electrician husband these, to see him spontaneously burst into flames of rage......

I acquired a lot of old Lent/confirmation/discipleship courses and prayer books, all several decades old, before figuring out that lesson. Plus several paintings of the church, which always seemed a particularly odd thing to donate back to the church.

So, so much this. Just before or after a Sunday service is the very worst time to try and tell me something. The worst offenders got told "If you don't see me write it down, you might as well not have bothered saying it!"
