Yes. I was expecting a fun whodunit with a convoluted plot and big name cameos and I got all that. I wasn't expecting the thoughtful exploration of vocation and the stories that shape us. Very moving in places.

I'm often really resistant and cautious about seeing films made of books I've loved for decades, in case they do it *wrong*. But yeah, the trailer looks pretty amazing!

That's a good way of phrasing it. Yes, me too.

It's so hard. I found the secrecy hard too - having to keep things going, and planning future events in your current role, as if you're absolutely going to be there for them and you're fully committed to the place, while knowing you're seeking to be elsewhere.

I acquired a lot of old Lent/confirmation/discipleship courses and prayer books, all several decades old, before figuring out that lesson. Plus several paintings of the church, which always seemed a particularly odd thing to donate back to the church.

So, so much this. Just before or after a Sunday service is the very worst time to try and tell me something. The worst offenders got told "If you don't see me write it down, you might as well not have bothered saying it!"
