What modern psychology would consider to be “good” is, I suspect, some kind of peak average everydayness where Dasein feels fully at home. I suspect this is why my non-philosopher friends tend to say things like “all the philosophy will make you go mad”. It does the opposite, of course.

I wondered what was happening. I gained about 150 followers in a few days and was very confused. Thought maybe I had become famous and didn’t know it.

Are there any vegetarians in West Virginia? I have been visiting and I am wasting away after 4 days. Help!

This, at the start of The Fundamental Concepts of Metaphysics is rather funny but seems out of character for Heidegger. Maybe he’d just had a particularly strong coffee.

I wrote my MA dissertation on the hard problem of consciousness, but now, after two years of studying Heidegger for my MRes, I can no longer understand what the problem is. It’s like my brain has rewired itself.

It’s already grown to one and a half shelves.

The first of hopefully many Heidegger shelves is complete.
