A lot of Marxist thought is "here are the iron laws of historical development and also the long set of reasons they don't apply in my particular case."

The KU administration has informed us that the Board of Regents, in compliance with a directive from the Kansas state legislature, now prohibits the use of pronouns in email signatures.

Henceforth, my email signature will include the following language:

Great write-up of the first London PPE conference hosted at DPE. A huge success and hopefully a regular event!

We're heartbroken at the news of Christian Joerges passing away. Kind, generous, and irrepressibly curious about people and their ideas, his life and work taught so many of us what makes academia worthwhile. Much love and strength to Michelle and the family. Mehr Licht!

An interview with Christian Joerges | European Law Open | Cambridge Core An interview with Christian Joerges - Volume 4 Issue 1

So grateful AgustΓn and I had the privilege of still doing this with Christian- an intellectual biography of sorts in the form of an interview. May he roam the skies forever in a vintage red fiat 500 with a half-shaven face and that twinkle in his eye. Much love.

This is a truly wonderful book that tells us so much about our current mess. How media narratives, gender, race, and the shift to services all sent UK labour movement into a crisis

It's a 90s MIJ Jerry Donahue signature, which are known for their great necks. And it does have a great deep v carve. At some point someone swapped in new electronics - lollar in the neck and dingwall in the bridge, both I think modelled on 52 blackguard style pickups

Yeah, and I guess the story either way is that the leadership has to moderate its plans to appease the backbenchers, which introduces new challenges for their fiscal rules. It just seems frustrating that they didn't use that challenge to do something productive

It just seems like if you are in a tight fiscal environment, it is good to do popular things alongside the unpopular things

They probably would have ended up with similar savings as is currently the case, and the two-child benefit limit is an appalling policy that they should make a priority of eliminating.

14.07.2025 11:22 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Maybe I'm missing something, but why didn't Labour combine the welfare cuts with easing or eliminating the two-child benefit cap? They could have framed it as focusing disability benefits on the most disabled and fighting child poverty.
