This should be rolled out across the island, quiet ways designated for walking and wheeling, lower traffic speed limits and clear signage 👇

Socially Unacceptable Vehicle:

Accounting for factors incl. driver characteristics and road conditions, adult pedestrians and cyclists had a 14% higher fatality rate when hit by an SUV compared to a regular car.

Children had a 77% higher fatality rate when hit by an SUV.

"Car-free streets will hurt businesses"

Basically forest parks, which invariably means driving, so having a car and transporting bikes--much more inclusive cycling access is needed in NI, with off-road and traffic-free routes from towns and cities through the countryside.

Very tricky to achieve as there are no definitive and mapped public rights of way here, so walking or wheeling means using roads and competing for space with traffic. A right to roam would make a huge difference but there's a lack of political willing north and south to achieve this...
