As a fellow begrudging Epic Games haver for the sole reason of playing Alan Wake 2, I feel called out. (Though I admit to replying Alan Wake 1 on it afterward, too.)

Y'all, I know two hours is a big time commitment, but this panel I arranged and hosted last month is one of the most important things I've ever done for video game history. The launch of the NES is a crazier story than most people realize, and my guests were extremely generous with their memories.

Status of the fantasy novel my wife and I have been writing: just under 32,000 words.

We have maybe 3x that word count in content, but I'm in the looong process of converting and combining it into readable third person text.

The local writing group seems to really like it. Gives me warm fuzzies.

That's funny! A big memory of mine from back in the day was hearing the voice of Spider-Man / Bumblebee (Dan Gilvezan) in this game. Never knew there were multiple spidey connections.

Hah, that's great! I actually had to look up what "Music 3000" was, and that's kind of amazing that they released a sequencer on PS2. I guess it didn't suit Darren's fancy too much, though.

One last addition, a grocery store snippet. Truly representative of the time period - probably 1998. Surge, Josta, Orbitz, and Coca-Cola Classic. Those were definitely the all-nighter video game years.

Here's one from 1997 - my first trip to Japan as a teen. Looks like I scored Wonder Project J2 (N64), Final Fantasy 6 (SFC), and Lunar: Silver Star Story (Saturn). How timely on that last one! I still have the latter 2, but J2 was a gift to a friend.

Oh yeah, people have been posting ancient receipts, right? I found a few in a giant old wallet recently.

It's been close to a year, and I'm almost finished translating my first official four-book light novel series.

I thought I'd be doing this right out of college, but that was quite literally twenty years ago. Life takes its turns. I'm grateful to finally be soaking my feet in the proverbial onsen.

3 fantasy franchise pieces of media I'd love to see but likely never will:

1. Skies of Arcadia remaster and/or sequel
2. Chronicles of Prydain big budget live action epic movie series
3. Slayers MMORPG (this would force Kanzaka to flesh out sooo many missing details, ha ha ha)

I still have fond(?) memories of posting this info to the GameFAQs message boards, then promptly getting in trouble for using bad language and having the post deleted. Didn't even think about it at the time, was just trying to get info out there. Oops!

Strange to have two KOF posts in a row, but I was going through some old files and found these images from a Gamest Mook I picked up maybe 25 years ago. This is the one showing that Terry Bogard supposedly says "Oh my shit!" during one of his moves. It may be "Overheat" canonically by now, not sure.

I gatcha, man!
