Starting a new army. Emperor’s Children. Pretty much the box cover colors but I’m trying flesh tearers on the studded cloth. I think it gives a classic chaos look.

Full assembly then paint. However, I have painted in the sprue for epic stuff.

They do look good though.

Some quality hair cuts by the look of it.

I made a second, more dynamic, Wraith Lord and painted my first ever marine in 28mm!

Yeah, that does sound painful.

People use oils for this. Pin wash. I have not tried, but I think it’s pretty easy.

The paint over is very quick, I use a relatively big brush and because it’s a bit watered down, if I make a mistake I just clean the brush and quickly soak it out of the crevice with some water in the brush.

…the contrast effect, evening out the color of each panel. I could go back and edge highlight, but I don’t enjoy the process and it’s time consuming.

It’s a liberal wash of blood angels red contrast paint. That naturally pools between the plates. Then I paint over the middle of each plate with a mix of the same contrast paint and a highlight color. Wild rider red in this case. A bit of water too and maybe a couple of coats. This settles down…
