It has fantasy elements, but is still firmly rooted in horror. It's set in our world and is contemporary (late '80s-close to present). At 70% in, I wouldn't consider it fantasy along the lines of Harry Potter or even King's recent Fairy Tale. I'm not big into fantasy either, so I think you're safe!
