Dear podcasters reporting on Epstein there is no such thing as "underage women" let's stop this insidious pervasive language. Nobody ever talks about "underage men" "underage adults". The word you are looking for is "children" or "teenagers". It's a weird reframing

Absolutely loved this episode, goes along nicely with my current reading of "thinking in systems" by Donella Meadows. This episode really ticked all my boxes. Wonderful

Tweet from @tomgara

Randomly on this subject, my (Egyptian) wife had never heard of Stonehenge when I mentioned it recently, so I showed her photos of it, assuming she’d recognise the look but not the name etc, and she was just like, this is pathetic, your ancestors were small and weak

In some good news reporting, had to call Haringey Adult Social Care and got through straight away to a lovely and empathetic member of staff. This is how council experiences should be.

You scared me for a moment about Stella Creasy complaining about a pay cut so had to go back to that podcast, she complained getting a tax cut as a higher earner from previous government. But I think you just had a slip of tongue

"We cannot condone a plan that risks condemning more disabled people to a life of poverty."

Current proposals on welfare reform will increase levels of poverty among disabled households.

As part of the Disability Charities Consortium, we’ve written to Liz Kendall and Rachel Reeves to ask for a cross-governmental strategy to lift disabled people out of poverty.

35 minutes in waiting queue for access to work to ask why 3 months was not enough time to deal with my complaint about underpaying me. Found their complaints policy that someone had to FOI out of them, @rnib.bsky.social have a complaints template and a very sensible list of demands. Yet nada

Last year my wife had breast cancer and a double mastectomy.

This morning, for the first time ever, she was challenged in the changing rooms at the swimming pool. Her breasts were not what make her a woman - but, breasts or not, she is entitled to dignity and protection from vigilantes.

Would have liked to hear some examples how your listener used pip - as a fellow teacher (with ms) I use it for transport, physio (in over 10 years I think I had 10 sessions on the nhs), things to help my daily life. Help into work? Is anyone looking into Access to work & its eternal backlog?

The first half was tough to record because we are all feeling very bruised by Starmer’s rhetoric on immigrants. But we cheered ourselves up for topic 2 which is as comprehensive a take on what to expect from the summit as it was possible to condense into a short pod. Enjoy!

@quietriotpod.bsky.social honestly I feel exactly what alex said about labour, I really tried but as a disabled EU/Arab immigrant running pride club at my school surely enough is enough. Writing to Lammy, my MP and seriously - he lost 12.000 votes last time, I think the Greens could have a chance!

Brilliant news. I'm quite emotional. Govt has agreed to investigate Council Tax rapid debt collection escalation that is catastrophic for millions. Miss one MONTH'S payment and within six weeks you can have baliffs forcing you to pay for the YEAR plus Β£100s admin charges.
