Rhamphorhynchus

Was intended to be just a sketch but I spent 2 or 3 too many weeks on it.

This country is making me sad and scared but that’s a good excuse to try to do some more good. I’m raising money with this sticker to help support Brave Space Alliance, a black and trans run organization. Community spaces are so important in uncertain times. 100% of profits donated!

a 3D printed reconstruction of the skull of caelestiventus, as the cranial elements of the holotype were found disarticulated; the dip in the forehead is slightly too pronounced compared to the actual specimen

happy #fossilfriday! bonus: this is caelestiventus, a pterosaur from the late triassic. a close relative of the famous dimorphodon, caelestiventus was the first triassic pterosaur to be described from north america

More @dinoconuk.bsky.social prints. This is it now, I promise.

This is Tupandactylus imperator, one of the most spectacular of all #pterosaurs. Some data exists about the crest pigments and the nature of the feather-like fibres on the head. More on this at #Patreon in the near future. #paleoart

Megacerops was a large ungulate from the White River Formation (38-33 million years ago) of the Midwest in the US. They resembled Rhinoceros, but had bony nasal horns that were covered by skin, not a keratin horn!
