They don't. I've often pitched ideas only to have them written by someone else. I don't even think it's deliberate and the pitch probably hasn't been seen - ideas have a life of their own and seem to pop up in many people's head at the same time. Not just me, really common.

New YouGov polling. A monumental failure of our political class to educate, a monumental failure of our media to report fairly, for a generation

What do you make of this? I read it and couldn't work out if it was real or not. It's plausible, but I wonder why the idea has been rejected, even by Dems.

Not sure ideas really work like that. Of course, we talk about a subject and people write about it. Whoever wrote it first often gets overlooked. I didn't see anything wrong with Dunt taking a stab at it - all part of the ecosystem of change, which, from my perspective as a woman, is very welcome.

Any jewellery, or expensive diamonds? Yeah, I wouldn't wear diamonds (and can't afford them anyway) but then again that's always been the case in London. It has always been crimey, throughout its entire history.

UK has got β€˜fat’ on decades of free labour by women, says MP Jess Phillips Minister points to β€˜sexist’ practice of country relying on women to provide services so government did not have to

I see this every time I work with community groups. Women stepping in to fill gaps left by LAs and government, only to find the more they step in, the more gaps appear, as government sees this free labour as a solution that their funding crises. It is not. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Really find it vile how much racist propaganda there is out there - ignorant, pathetically fearful and unempathetic.

One of those unspoken truths neglected because women are still overlooked, repeatedly.

Well done Jess Philips.

Yes, but look where this conversation started - massive inequality causing societal collapse (along with climate change, etc.). Worse case scenario. Incidentally, engaging with, and understanding, food & production & nature may help people understand the value of their lives and the environment.

There's this ridiculous stat which says the global population could fit into Texas if they lived at the density of New York. Possibly not practical but you get the idea. Only 0.1% of the UK is urban and 5.3% is built on. High-density, low-impact living and growing plots seems feasible...

Dr Luke Kemp is evidently a fundamentally good person to have done all this valuable work. History is a great way to challenge our contextual perceptions.

By the way, @iandunt.bsky.social (having read through some of the threads here), my daughter is at secondary school and these are exactly the conversations we need to be having. I fear for her ever finding a nice partner.

Critics are splitting hairs.

It's just one short article, not a book. And it's a start. I couldn't see anything I don't agree with in it. Everyone needs connection, so let's try and look at how people can do that, because young people often appear to have forgotten.

Thanks @iandunt.bsky.social. Agree with your points - I think men and women would be a lot happier if they just behaved like curious humans - and an article is just one step on a journey. High-value doesn't equate to high-status - in my experience, quite the opposite. Hope you can do more with this.

The no 1 rule of marketing is buy-in and belief from your staff (internal comms). Obviously that hasn't happened here.

I liked your article. I am a comms person myself but am focused on research communications (which is the most meaningful way of marketing what unis do). I look at what's happening at Warwick and if I were a prospective student, I'd think "ouch, messy things are happening there. Swerve!".
