Kovel's not a significant place really. Standard gauge to a place like that only moves the problem somewhere else imo.

I mean, what she's actually saying without intending to is 'look where all the disposable income is'. Leave voter nailed on.

I think you have to just call bs on Farage claiming that. Brexit was his biggest policy objective and it was implemented. He must be made to own it repeatedly.

And in fact, they should have signed it because if it can be stripped from us it can be stripped from others in future. I sense Verhofstadt and Goerens realised this.

If a standard gauge or dual gauge line allows you to reach a significant place and a hub in the network, it's probably worthwhile. From Przemyśl, Lviv makes sense. From Chełm, it's too far to any major place in Ukraine for the gauge change to be viable.

I oppose both ETA and ETIAS for travellers from the continent of Europe travelling within the continent of Europe.

I don't care what anyone says. Barriers to Europeans travelling across Europe, whoever they're imposed by, are a bad thing. The Berlin Wall was a bad thing. Restrictive visa regimes on Ukrainians were a bad thing. This is a bad thing. Leaders in EU and non-EU European countries should sort this out.

I see what you're saying, but do voters in EU states share EU values? They may not actually try to leave the EU but let's not be puritanical here. If you're honestly saying Orbán, Fico, Babiš etc. share EU values presumably you know how ridiculous that sounds?

Last night, russia murdered a 7yo boy in Zaporizhzhia and brought a lot of damage to the Ukrainian energy system attempting to freeze us into capitulation in winter.

This won't stop until russia tastes its own pill. Every effort to manage escalation has only led to impunity and more escalation.

There was even a citizens' initiative (EU petition) on it. It was a failure of the FBPE movement that, whilst many Brits enthusiastically signed it they neglected that we also needed to persuade people from other EU states to sign. I pointed this out many times but it hardly got even a retweet...

What I most want to avoid is LD and Green activists slinging mud at each other over the barely one or two seats they're directly competing in. A lot of time and energy was wasted to the benefit of the Conservatives over what amounts to just Sheffield Hallam.

If it's not public, I agree. Just an understanding of who targets resources on which seats.

Warsaw Modlin airport to be rail-connected by 2029. Wonder how much it'll really be needed by then.

That's very different to a western voter, who would be indignant at the suggestion their vote was influenced by Russian interference and so on. There would be much more pushback. And that's why we're no nearer a serious enquiry into how elections and referendums in the West have been infiltrated.

I feel like the difference is that in Moldova you're talking about post-Soviet style 'virtual parties' and actual bribed voters and, tbh, when people couldn't vote for them any more there was probably little more than a shrug.

I keep hearing from certain people about how quintessentially terrible the Brits are, even the ones that didn't vote Leave, and how lovely everything is in the EU. Meanwhile, here are some more hard right populists...
