Like Chile. There was zero reason for US or UK to support Pinochet’s coup. The country had elected a stable populist and moderate leftist leader.

Argentina has been unstable for as long as I can remember - and that’s a long time. Has its currency ever stabilized? Has its politics ever stabilized? Maybe a bit under leftist populists. But Trump focuses on this basket case, & fights Brazil and Lula of Brazil - a much more important country.

That’s what shadow teachers are for - to help develop IEPs for students who need them and work with them to achieve the IEP objectives. Every teacher should have some understanding of these, but a separate shadow teacher with specialized skills is needed too. If costs an issue then 1 per 2/3 classes

Reminds me of the iconic Bloody Sunday photo where a priest holds a white kerchief while trying to get wounded unarmed protesters to safety.

It was always pretentious anyway - like everyone wanted to fly to the U.S.- uh, no, and U.S. travelers to Canada can’t pre clear Canadian customs or immigration at LAX or JFK can they.

Good. Shut them down. I never liked the idea of US Customs officials working out of Canadian airports. Get back onto your side of the border and do your job there where you belong.

I have less problem with the CBC covering the funeral to see/hear what Trump and the other whackos say than I do with the Canadian PARLIAMENT holding a standing ovation for Kirk, the American preacher of hate. WTAF was THAT??

So let’s see. Hmm. Leak a story like that on the weekend, after shorting Tylenol stocks for Monday or Tuesday just before closing bell Friday? I smell a rat.

Did Canada’s King discuss Trump’s threat to take over the king’s nation 🇨🇦? Just wondering. The silence from Buck House has been deafening more months. To ignore it - especially during a face to face meeting - is the highest form of whimper. Was the Canadian High Commissioner invited to the dinner?

I sympathize with your point. However Timothy McVeigh’s truck bomb was quoted by FBI at the time as worst case of “domestic terrorism”. But in legal terms, yes, the law itself might have a different definition. In any case the killing of one guy doesn’t compare to McVeigh and his conspirators

….so expect this to be just the tip of the iceberg. Nothing hold Trump back because no admin either Dem or Republican has ratified either of these core human rights labor standards in 80 years

ILO Convention C87 is the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention, 1948 and ILO Convention C98 is the Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining Convention, 1949. Both are fundamental ILO standards on workers' rights. United States has not ratified either of them.

You gotta wonder why they needed to use a hotel’s business center to print. It suggests no advance team had set up a closed door US Secretariat room to work in with a few printers and a separate secure WiFi. Like my own home printer. I can press “print” and it doesn’t come out until 3 hours later!!

I really think Robert is on to this. Scary but probably the real reasons behind deploying troops in major U.S. cities like LA and DC and taking over the latter with troops calling the shots over police. Just. A. Trial. Run.

They all bow to Trump. In Canada, where many/most Canadians are trying to avoid American products in protest of the 51st State comments, all Canadian supermarkets highlight Canadian foods/products with a 🍁. All except Walmart which ignores that trend - and so can f-off.

His Website states: […] “the simple truth (is) that it’s totally misguided to put ANY drug into drinking water.” So my question: should we not be chlorinating our drinking water either? (I’m not dismissing his contention about fluoride). But come on..choose your words more carefully

The Changing Map of Palestinian Recognition

NYT editors must have been wringing their hands over whether to publish this… I wonder if this is only for international online subscribers or whether it also appeared in the local NY/US edition.

That’s right. US needs multi party democracy - at least four major parties and runoff presidential elections to reach common representation. Won’t happen though will it.

The U.S. needs multi party democracy. Has needed that for decades. With run off ballots in presidential elections like other countries. This outcome is as much a fault of democrats as it is of the MAGA knuckleheads. Dems turned their backs on working class 20 years ago and this is a consequence

Seems 94% of Canada’s trade with US falls into the CUSMA free trade agreement so none of that can be touched by Trump’s whims until 2036 (allegedly). But BC’s lumber, and Eastern Canada’s steel, aluminum and part of auto sectors are facing 36%

Right. Subsistence Farmers across the world live crop to crop and hand to mouth, often can’t afford to rent the existing old machines to bring in a crop, but some AI robot is going to show up soon outside their shack. I think Elon needs to have more kids - and miss a meal or two.
