It would help a lot of more effort was made to normalize wearing masks. It's just obvious. Smoky outside? Wear a mask. Feel like you're coming down with something? Wear a mask when around others. COVID surge? Measles outbreak? In a high risk situation? At a clinic/hospital? Wear a mask.

The "they left the AI prompt in their published novel" stuff is mind-boggling because, as someone writing a novel for fun, it's like they're on a different planet. Why are you letting the machine steal your fun, dummy? Are the tens of dollars and the esteem of Good Reads members really worth it?

The clothes and food are the worldbuilding - where do they come from, who's doing the labor, what's the climate, how are goods being moved? This is worldbuilding to me. Are there luxury goods? Are there precious metals? That says a lot already.

Today I'll push the story forward by remembering that my brain is easily bored, and this quality is what makes me want to rewrite scenes endlessly, forever.

I am not, in fact, recieving divine inspiration on "how to make it better," and I can't step forward without a place to brace my foot.
