There are SO many scenarios where insurance tied to employment is just, it's inhumane. FMLA only can go so far. One major illness or accident, and boom. PLUS if you don't have the PTO or short-term disability, you can't afford your premiums and you lose the insurance anyway. It's just awful.

And now they are looking at only backdating 30/60 days coverage for ACA/medicaid there just is literally no end to the greed, power, and cruelty.

If it were ever about the economy, we'd have ditched our system decades ago. But hey, it's cheaper for us to die.

I hate it here.

What blows my mind is that a universal system would save both the employer and employee- not to mention ending so many horrific patterns we see of avoidable deaths… & would save the fed $ overall.

Not even just in premium costs, but a healthy employee is far more productive than a sick one.

Imagine if unions didn’t have to bargain for healthcare.
If employees didn’t have to stay at a crappy job for healthcare.
But that doesn’t work for the Robber Barons.

Yep, so many businesses cut hours to just below 40 a week so they don’t have to pay benefits.
Fed minimum wage -
7.25 x 39 = 282.75
x 4 = 1,131.00 a month
Before tax withholdings
You can’t rent a studio apartment for that.

Check out insurance and Walmart. They do the same, let folks go to the ACA, or medicaid.

Idk what they think real work is, but if Walmart and other mega corporations were to pay a living wage the need for SNAP would plummet.
It’s a win win for Walmart. They pay less and people use SNAP to buy food from them.

Hungry Americans, Golden Ballrooms: Money for Me, but not for Thee Text SIGN PCZTRE to 50409 β€” As of tonight, 42 million Americans stand to lose access to food. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program β€” SNAP β€” is about to run dry, not because the money is gone, but because Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson refuse to release it. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is currently sitting on $6 billion in reserves that Congress specifically appropriated to prevent exactly this kind of catastrophe during a government shutdown. Those funds could keep millions of children, seniors, veterans, and working families from going hungry β€” today. But the administration has made a deliberate choice to hold that money hostage, using hunger as leverage in its political games. Meanwhile, the same government that β€œcan’t afford” to feed Americans has miraculously found $20 billion to prop up Trump ally Javier Milei in Argentina. The Treasury can wire billions overseas to reward a foreign autocrat, but it cannot release funds already allocated to feed American families. And while this cruelty unfolds, the president is demanding $230 million from U.S. taxpayers to build a gold-plated ballroom at the White House β€” after bulldozing the East Wing β€” so he can host luxury parties that will β€œdwarf the existing structure.” During his Asia trip, Trump was literally crowned in gold by South Korean hosts and served gold-topped desserts. All the while, 42 million Americans at home face empty plates. It is β€œmoney for me, but not for thee” made policy. Speaker Johnson’s excuses ring hollow. He refuses to call the House back into regular session, refuses to negotiate an end to the shutdown, and openly admits that releasing SNAP’s emergency funds would β€œreduce pressure on Democrats.” In other words, he is using hunger as a bargaining chip. The American people see through it. According to a Washington Post–ABC poll, voters now blame Trump and congressional Republicans for the shutdown by a margin of 45 to 33. Trump’s approval rating has sunk to 41 percent, with a –14 net disapproval, and recent polling shows Americans now trust Democrats more than Republicans to manage the economy. This is not fiscal discipline. It is cruelty wrapped in corruption. The same administration that can fund palaces abroad and ballrooms at home is starving its own citizens to win a negotiation. Congress must act: β€’ Compel the USDA to immediately release SNAP’s emergency reserves. β€’ End the shutdown and restore funding for food and healthcare programs. β€’ Investigate the misuse of federal funds for personal and political gain. Feed your people. End this cruelty. Restore decency and accountability to our government.

In light of China trade deals:
Did you know that several American car factories were forced to close this sommer when China temporarily halted exports of rare earth minerals?

China controls up to 90 percent of the world's rare earth mineral refining capacity.

So much for winning trump!

We have met the 30 day trigger for a law that trump signed in 2019. That 30 day shitdown trigger instructs all agencies to start sorting the furloughed for RIFs. That’s roughly 750k ppl right now. When the Gov starts back up, these RIF’s can be legally acted on. The TRO no longer applies and …
