02.10.2025 20:46 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh yes, and this awesome, searchable "mini-database"!
02.10.2025 20:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Australia, companies with #ownership obscured through nominee structures account for 23 million tonnes of #fossilfuel CO2 #emissions every year โ about 18% of the national total.
The interactive data tools are great too! You can dig into asset level #emissions and #ownership
Sorry, mistag, itโs not the IFC, itโs Irving Fisher Committee on Central Bank Statistics from the Bank of International Settlements
02.10.2025 17:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Increased #ownership granularity includes ownership connections at a 5% threshold, all levels of ownership (subsidiaries, SPVs, etc.), references/citations for each ownership connection, and (soon to come) timestamps for the last time each ownership connection was verified.
01.10.2025 00:16 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This initiative should allow #LEI users access to asset-level data on #energy and heavy emitting assets, a pathway to an independent verification of financed #emissions (thanks to our role as the ownership leads at @climatetrace.org ), and increased ownership granularity in the #ESG and space.
01.10.2025 00:16 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I'll be co-presenting with the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation about our initiative integrating the LEI into @globalenergymon.bsky.social Global Energy Ownership Tracker
01.10.2025 00:16 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I'm getting ready to present at the @ifcorg.bsky.social and @dnb-nl.bsky.social event on "Sustainability data issues and central banks' experience". Can't wait to increase data interoperability and #opendata in the #ClimateFinance space!
01.10.2025 00:16 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0An honor to connect with Al Gore at #ClimateWeekNYC.
GEM contributes ownership data through our Global Energy Ownership Tracker as the sector lead in the @climatetrace.org coalition he co-founded โ linking emissions to the companies most responsible.
Really important new dataset in the #fossilfuel space! Combining this data with equity data, such as what is in the Ownership Tracker, is an amazing next step for corporate #emissions transparency and independent verification
24.09.2025 20:20 โ ๐ 25 ๐ 6 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Excellent study and use of ownership data - love the focus on Scope 1
04.06.2025 22:46 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I love the work done by the @pe-coalition.bsky.social in looking at how to effectively communicate climate issues to skeptics.
22.05.2025 19:14 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0"The opposition wins when we donโt show up."
This is a fantastic experiment run to see how to pull individuals believing disinformation about climate change to a more open and believing position!
Check out @climatetrace.org 's new February emissions release!
24.04.2025 16:29 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The #SEC backing away from defending the Climate Related Financial Disclosure rules they spent YEARS building is not surprising under the trump presidency, but it's still disappointing to see

We've been featured as @climatechangeai.bsky.social 's Dataset of the Month! ๐ฅณ
Thank you for the support, we really appreciate it.

These should not be considered โemergency projectsโ and the fact that this project class means communities and local canโt weigh in on the impact of this fossil fuel projects is unacceptable in a democracy.
23.02.2025 17:35 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Really puts all the "efficiency" cuts into perspective @hcrichardson.bsky.social
21.02.2025 22:30 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It also includes several extractive industries such as coal mines, iron ore mines, and iron and steel plants.
We will be launching a new section, likely in late July, that maps for corporate ownership for the cement and concrete sector - which accounts for roughly 8% of global emissions.
Free to use and download dataset for journalists, researchers, and others who work in corporate transparency, particularly those focused on climate corporate transparency.
This data contains for the full chains of ownership for the majority of the worlds fossil fuel assets.
Plus, ownership covers many more fossil fuel and heavy emitting assets: coal plants, oil and gas plants, coal mines, steel plants, bioenergy power, and natural gas transmission pipelines.
Soon we will also cover crude oil and natural gas liquid transmission pipelines and cement and concrete plants.
If you also want to use this tool to investigate gaps in companies Scope 1 and 2 emissions you can! See this article as an example: globalenergymonitor.org/report/world...
13.02.2025 20:47 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It was great to see this shout out of @globalenergymon.bsky.social 's and @cshearer19.bsky.social 's Global Coal Plant Tracker. We now also publish full chains of ownership for the Coal Plant Tracker in the Global Energy Ownership Tracker. Click here for the Ownership Tracker: tinyurl.com/4cp8wfre

12.02.2025 01:24 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Bar chart showing proposals, construction starts, and coal capacity brought online in 2024 are higher in China than the rest of the world combined. The bars in gigawatts compare coal-fired power capacity by status and region, in gigawatts (GW). Proposed capacity: China 69 GW, Rest of World 47 GW. Construction started: China 94 GW, Rest of World 7 GW. Started operating: China 31 GW, Rest of World 14 GW. Source: Global Coal Plant Tracker, January 2025.
The latest Global Coal Plant Tracker update is live!
Key trends:

A @nytimes.com analysis of #GlobalEnergyMonitor data shows a more complex picture than commonly reported: yes, planned retirement dates for many US coal plants are being pushed back, but many are also being accelerated, and the long term trend away from coal is clear: www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Iโm at NeurIPs 2024 Climate Change AI workshop this weekend introducing a new dataset Iโve been developing for neighbourhood level energy modelling

This is fantastic work with informative graphics! Everyone should take the time to read @isabellamweber.bsky.social 's entire thread.
I particularly love this sankey diagram and I love the "Profits flow disproportionately to the most affluent, white, and highly educated Americans" graph
I had someone tell me RSS feeds are AI... this was earlier this year
