for the process to really land it also takes a heck of a lot of careful integration over months and weeks.
because those sort of processes take a lot of care and expertise to craft a process that gives the participants that release and that closure. a careless facilitator can cause actual harm if they allow the process to go off the rails.

at no point does the participant shout and scream at their actual father though. it's a part of the self, some internalized message.
look up Carl Jung and shadow work
these modalities take a participant and extract the darker aspects of themselves out onto the floor. they then might identify the darker aspects as an internalized message from an abusive parent, say a father.
entire disciplines of psychology take a participant and then bring out aspects of that person. they then have entire dialogues with several aspects of themselves
for example talking to your inner child can be very helpful to healing core wounds.
