I’m aware that he was treated unfairly with fake scandals and double standards, but in retrospect many believe he wasted a lot of capital trying to appease moderates or Fox News who were never going to play fair.

I think the post-911 anti-Muslim backlash made the far right decide support for full on white supremacy was higher than it was in the country, leading to Trump and Miller overplaying their hand with ICE. That and Obama trying to downplay race is like a weird butterfly effect to post.

As a parent, I’d much rather see a genuine movement for children’s rights. Most “parental rights” issues come down to control of children as property.

This is pretty well documented; you can poll his voters and get a wide array of responses to what they expected. Many thought it would only be criminals, just like many in 2016 thought he was anti-war and pro-healthcare outsider conservative.
