Yeah, I'm really tired of "mental illness is no excuse!" being thrown around without the context that just because someone's emotions make you uncomfortable, it doesn't necessarily mean they're toxic or abusive.

9) "Soup for my family," a reference to Trump's viral speech about how Black Lives Matter protestors allegedly carry around soup cans to throw at police. Maybe that's why he cut $186 billion dollars from food assistance programs?

8) Hormone replacement therapy for transgender people. Several states have already banned transition care for minors.

7) Porn! Payment processors are caving to conservative values and cracking down on what's allowed to be sold, affecting sex workers and queer and marginalized creators. Many of the measures to "protect" children from porn are a privacy nightmare, such as the requiring ID to access social media.

5) Trans people lost the right to update our gender markers and travel safely. We temporarily got it back. Temporarily.

6) Condoms. With the attacks on HIV prevention, sex ed, and reproductive health providers, it's be harder to get protection to those who need it.

3) PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) to prevent HIV is just one of the interventions threatened by massive cuts to HIV prevention funding.

4) IUDs. Reproductive rights are under attack all around, including healthcare centers like Planned Parenthood.

2) Not only have we given up on mask mandates in public spaces (including hospitals), but mask bans are becoming more common despite the continued risks posed by unmitigated COVID.

A few people have asked about the items, so here's a breakdown of what's included and why:

1) Vaccines are being restricted. It's harder to get seasonal COVID boosters, and mNRA vaccine development has been defunded, jeopardizing cancer and HIV research.

Trump massively defunded HIV prevention efforts in general, both domestically and overseas. I can't speak specifically for how it will affect PrEP access, but personally I couldn't afford it when I was just on Medicare.

It's like people have no compassion for cPTSD unless you have a fawn/freeze subtype and keep your pain to yourself. But healing from that often involves a period of overcorrection. People demonize the healing process, reinforce the original trauma, and blame you for not being healed!

Could you clarify what you mean? As a former online sex worker, I'm not aware of any viable payment processing options that don't come with these restrictions. The question about alternate payment processors is brought up a lot in sex work discussions, but my understanding is it's not viable.

I now view kindness as mandatory in a leader. I see willingness to break ties with abusers, even those "on your side" of an identity struggle, as an essential form of intersectional solidarity. I'm less concerned about being seen as a good person, and more concerned with actually being good.

I haven't change my underlying politics, but I've had to acknowledge that I was sometimes wrong about who to listen to. I don't tolerate people who engage in abusive rhetoric—suicide baiting, sadistic mockery of trauma, or name calling—nor those who defend them as "just venting" or "punching up."

This happened a few times, and I have to take accountability for that. I didn't vet my followers enough, I didn't always know when to shut up, and I didn't always see when abusive people were using a "just cause" to disguise their desire to hurt others.

Part of why I left the other site was my "social justice" circles brimming with suicide baiting over petty intracommunity disagreements. I had so little support when I spoke out against it. I worried that anything critical I said about ongoing discourse would be used in an abusive dogpile.
