Other considerations I will work in: energy use is exponential too so going 69mph instead of 75mph should make a small but helpful range boost that will cost me less in the long run. Hypothetically that is. I would never drive over the speed limit.

Got back home with only a 15 minute “gas” station stop. Next time’s plan charge up to 100%. Charge on level 1s and 2s while in Duluth and hit the Pine City stop on the way home to top it off. Whole trip will cost $15 in energy and a 15 minute rest stop. 😎

Here’s where it gets fun. That Pine City stop? Rolled in at 18% and charged to 50% in 15 minutes! This baby was chugging at 142kw and only tapered down to 124kw by the end of the charge! (For reference we tapered to 24kw when that battery was closer to 90%)

Turning some bad luck into a good night, we went back over to Bent Paddle for nachos and hop water, charged to 60% and headed home. Will definitely use the chargers in the Lincoln Park craft district!

Had a lovely time in Duluth with family after shopping and some dinner we were sitting at 45% & decided to stop in Canal Park for a fast charge. The ZEF charger was broken and I honestly have yet to find a ZEF that works. Not planning around these chargers again if I can help it.

Stopped in Pine City on the way up. Learned that charging is an exponential curve. Takes longer and longer the closer to 100%. So this stop was a less than ideal 45 minutes. 15$ got us back up to 88%.

Left the house at 88%. About 297 mile range but actually less because of highway driving and climate controls.
Definitely will get it to 100% for future trips. Usually don’t go over 80% for daily use.

We went to Duluth and back so it wasn’t high stakes but it was a low stress way to learn the rhythm of driving an electric car longer distances. We have a 2024 Cadillac Lyric AWD, 102kwh battery, about a 300 mile range. Temp outside was mid 30s, drove about 350 total miles.
