San Francisco Single Stair Study - OpenScope Studio
Study to explore the potential of single-stair buildings as a strategy for small-scale infill housing in San Francisco.
OpenScope recently created a prototype of a six story building for San Francisco's standard 25' x 100' parcel with a single exit stair, similar to what is allowed in Seattle (and most other countries). openscopestudio.com/projects/san... #architecture

And note that due to geometry of stairs and landings, floor area consumed increases at a greater-than-linear rate relative to width. See drawings from Conrad (notice his narrowest stair is wider than the typical US requirement). 1.5m stair consumes almost the same area as two 1.1m scissor stairs!
