Al Hirschfeld who was a serious admirer of Shaw and did the poster campaign for the MGM file stayed up till 4 am one night trying to convince Moss Hart that you couldn’t improve PYGMALION with songs and dances. Thankfully Moss didn’t listen and Al ended up doing the iconic image of MY FAIR LADY

The Washington Post is failing its readers in many ways, but their art critics are still pretty good. Sebastian Smee has an interesting column about visiting midwest museums and how even great works of art have a hard time drowning out the chaos we seem to be in.
