for example, cheering for a sports team is being part of a fandom

unless this is about women's hobbies being infantilized when men's are considered very acceptable to say the least

Telling people to grow up is always ridiculous—being a grownup is a pain, and kids generally have much better priorities than adults. How sad is it to insist that adults have to avoid things that bring them joy? It's the opposite of a flex, letting people know you're a bootlicker for the Fun Police

Fandom is best enjoyed by finding a small group of like-minded and kind individuals you can actually talk to and not risk the wrath of the collective
