MINNEAPOLIS (AP) โ€” Alberto Castaรฑeda Mondragรณn says his memory was so jumbled after a beating by immigration officers that he initially could not remember he had a daughter and still struggles to recall treasured moments like the night he taught her to dance.

But the violence he endured last month in Minnesota while being detained is seared into his battered brain.

He remembers Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulling him from a friendโ€™s car on Jan. 8 outside a St. Paul shopping center and throwing him to the ground, handcuffing him, then punching him and striking his head with a steel baton. He remembers being dragged into an SUV and taken to a detention facility, where he said he was beaten again.

He also remembers the emergency room and the intense pain from eight skull fractures and five life-threatening brain hemorrhages.

ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man โ€œpurposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.โ€

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldnโ€™t remember he had a daughter.

Prosecutors Began Investigating Renee Goodโ€™s Killing. Washington Told Them to Stop.

NYT confirming MS NOW reporting:

Prosecutors began investigating Renee Good's killing, then Washington told them to stop.

Federal prosecutors had a warrant to collect evidence from Good's vehicle, but Trump leaders said to drop it. About a dozen prosecutors have since departed.

Ottawa gives Canada Post a $1.01-billion loan The federal government says it is making more than $1 billion available to Canada Post in the form of a repayable loan to help the Crown corporation.

The government is giving a loan to a Crown corporation that should just be a public service that we pay for because it provides an essential task that Canadians depend on.

We donโ€™t provide loans to the health care system or schools; we just pay for them.

Federal judge rules DOJ can โ€˜no longerโ€™ be trusted in voter roll crusade The judge pointed to a letter from Bondi to Minnesota that tied federal immigration enforcement to demands for voter data as the smoking gun.

A federal judge in Oregon issued a sweeping rebuke of the Justice Departmentโ€™s nationwide push to seize state voter rolls, ruling that the department can no longer be presumed to be acting in good faith and warning that its conduct threatens voters and statesโ€™ rights.

Wyden has been the main voice pointing at the large trove of US Treasury documents that exist on Epstein that haven't been released either.

Epstein made 4,725 wire transfers of over $1 billion dollars, with no legitimate purpose... And yet was never audited by the IRS?

Homeless Oregon youth got $1,000 a month for two years. Most found housing after โ€ข Oregon Capital Chronicle Oregon is the second of its kind in the nation to implement the direct cash transfer program after New York City.

"By the end of the two-year period, 94% of participants reported they were housed."

A million pilot programs show the same thing: when people are given enough money to afford housing, homelessness ends.

Other supports matter, but housing comes first. Not policing. Not moralizing. Homes.
