I'm not saying I'm snobbish, but I just vetoed a concert because it introduced the programme as "list of songs".

We had a very jolly evening in Buxton earlier this year watching The South, which in spite of their badging themselves as a tribute act is basically the final band line up without Paul Heaton. A good time was had by all.

Weirdly, that's the one that popped into my head when you threatened Red Mug Friday. It led to a delightful play of Carry On Up The Charts while I worked through the washing up last evening.

Suddenly I'm glad that this ride was closed for refurb when we visited...

So much of our garden is having a second flowering this late in the year - very strange. I fear a lot won't make it through winter if it's putting it's stored energy into blooms now.

Back home after a very jolly evening with Sandi Toksvig at. Buxton Opera House. Always a good time, intellectually stimulating, and haven't laughed as much in ages.

Honestly - you wait all day to start your jigsaw again, and somebody goes to sleep on it!

A misspent Saturday...

Can confirm that the cat is just as unhelpful at jigsaws as you'd expect. If he's not eating the pieces, he's sat on the box so you can't see the picture!

For nine months one of these cats has actively leaped over or stepped around this bed, seemingly terrified to set foot in it. Even holding him above it would have him struggling to get away. This afternoon I went down for a brew, and what did I find?

Heated blankets?! We've still got windows open and short sleeves! Unless we get a severe cold snap it'll probably be another month before the heating goes on or we want leccy blankets/hot water bottles.

Mornings are infinitely improved with the addition of an omelette. Ham, mushroom, and Emmenthal in mine please!

First morning since about Feb that I've left the house and it's still been dark. Chasing the dawn as we ride into Manchester. At least it's still light when we leave at the end of the day... (for now!)

It's so rare I'm near an M&S, but I do need to try this... Have to do it on a day G isn't here as I suspect it isn't diet-approved...
