I appreciate all the people showing love and support to me. I’m so grateful honestly. It means a lot. The ban isn’t that big of a deal for me. I think it was wrong and the explanation was bullshit. But that’s ok and I accept. Social media comes and goes. I’m grateful for all the connections I was able to make and all the people I get to be connected with off Bluesky. More importantly, the world needs more people to give a fuck. More people to give a fuck about Palestinians, more people to give a fuck about disabled folks, more people to give a fuck about our queer and trans siblings, more people to give a fuck about Black liberation. The world, and Bluesky, is full of bootlickers who will do anything to avoid doing anything to upset the status quo. These people are cowards groveling to those in power in hopes of protection. I just hope people continue to show love and care and kindness. Mutual aid is so important. Give when you can, boost when you can. We only survive this together.

Hey, so, survivor of CSAM (child sexual abuse material) here—and a global survivor advocate, including policy work!

Fictional material is not illegal. That’s actually why deepfakes are such a big issue for survivors too.

That said, actual art should *not* be made illegal. Why? (Con’t)

First and foremost, artists cannot predict how other people will respond to their work. If someone watches GoT or sees two sibling OCs and decides to pursue something like that irl, that’s not on the artists and creators. That’s on the art’s consumer and on society’s culture around relationships.

But what about drawing “child porn”?

Personally, ick. But censorship? Still no. It’s fiction. And calling it “child porn” does a disservice to every survivor.

First of all, that’s a terrible term. It’s CSAM. But second, CSAM involves *actual* children. (Con’t)

If we call art, no matter how gross, CSAM, then it removes power from actual survivor-victims. That is *our* term. That is what we went through. Uncomfortable art, no matter the intent is *not* the same. No one was traumatized to make that image.

It’s like how “triggered” was taken away from PTSD.

Stop exploiting survivors’ language to make points about morality. It’s beyond unethical to use us like that.

Also, censorship means no media with child abuse or trafficking narratives can be created and that’s dangerous!

People forget this ban doesn’t just impact erotic art. It’s everything!

No more cautionary tales in comics. No more GoT-style relationships that lead to discussions around ethics and consent. No more survivor-made media about their experiences.

Censorship silences seeing *bad* relationships in media and debating, learning from, or relating to them in a healthy way too!
