What's punk about laziness? What's punk about unoriginality? You know what's punk? Writing before the sun comes up, staying up later than you should to write, writing during your day job and giving fuck all about it. That's punk. The grind. The pain. Punk isn't easy or mindless - its blood.

I wish I could just dream in that world every night. It haunts me often. I recently read The Book of the Most Precious Substance by Sara Gran - so damn good. I was in love with Cuckoo, so I am shaking with anticipation to read Black Flame.

I just bought it today and so excited to read it. Books about haunted media are my favorite niche. (Haven't read yours yet but) Experimental Film is my favorite. What is you favorite book featuring haunted media?

At Dark I Become Loathsome devastated me, but I feel pulled back into your world. Its like a bruise I can't stop poking. I wake up and think of the casket. It haunts me. I want to be haunted some more.

Holy hell, Daniel. This book is a monster (in a good way). Like, I expect it to be read in 100 years. Transgressive and formally inventive. I am a slow, but constant, reader, and I read this in a day. Then the next day I missed - so I started again. If felt like the best kind of dream.

I'm so excited for this, Eric. Everything about it - the description, the comps, the trailer - is a vibe that aches. I need Burnt Sparrow!

I am an old hand at taking rejections with stride, but eventually, after years, it starts to feel personal. Complaining about rejections is faux pas, but goddamn they're defeating. I got seven this week, some after months and one after being shortlisted. It feels like throwing darts into a pit.

At the Telluride Film Festival in 2009, I sat on the lawn and ate steak sandwiches and ice cream sundaes with Geoffrey Rush. He was wonderful. We talked about movies and travelling for too much of the panel we should've been watching.

Ghost Eaters was so damn good, man. You have amazing sense of space in your work, and that novel showcases it. Also, it is scary as all get out. This novel is a director's dream, and Derrickson is going to bask in it. So excited.

"From Clay, God" is a nasty little monster of a story that snuck onto the #shortlist at @fracturedlit.bsky.social Gods & Monsters contest. I have collected over 30 rejections so far in 2025, and this is a wonderful wink of recognition I sorely needed.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Time travel is a subgenre I struggle to dig into, but THIS - this book is f'ing magic. Weird and emotionally resonant. This is a killer book, brother. I loved it.

I don't know what I expected from this adaptation, but this was not it. And now I know why I'm a dumbshit - this looks brilliant.
