24-hour automated bus lane camera enforcement in a city of similar size to Cork, in Korea.
Why can't we do the same at home? Patrick's Street?

24-hour automated bus lane camera enforcement in a city of similar size to Cork, in Korea.
Why can't we do the same at home? Patrick's Street?
Clontarf Street cycle lane re-routed over the last month, directly onto the footpath with guaranteed conflict with pedestrians, shoving bicycle users directly out onto the road seconds later with zero priority right at the bridge.
This isn't really acceptable Cork City Council!
So disappointing.
"Why is my bus delayed?"
Driver couldn't even pull out as your man proceeded to drive at him on the wrong side of the road, then spending several minutes collecting bins along both sides.
Parking bays free on the opposite side.
Screenshot showing Ciarรกn Mullooly, complaining about the cost increases on Russian Fertiliser.
Screenshot showing the amount that Ireland spends on imports from Israel.
One of the most effective Irish protests against the apartheid system of South Africa was when the Dunnes Stores workers refused to handle South African products.
Irish importers are STILL buying Russian fertiliser and Israeli technology while innocent children burn.
Stop funding war crimes.
What's the point?
No enforcement on brand new infrastructure where millions were spent. We are such a joke.
Cycle lane bollards don't need to be ugly!

Pushing for bollards at this location for 2+ years now as the motor shop uses the public footpaths to store other peoples vehicles.
@oliver.ie @badparkingcork.bsky.social
Signage one thing but additional protection such as bollards also needed here to ensure drivers are not able to simply drive straight across the cycle track which has a bend at that junction. Better solution needed.

Thankfully the person was able to walk away but very shaken and bruised.
Add to this dangerous driving against traffic including pedestrians, on a one way street

Replacement of a tree surround implies the trees were coming back.
We employ a tree officer apparently? What are they doing exactly?
14.02.2025 16:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Lads this is a joke. Loads have been begging for more greenery in the City and all we get is excuses. Now we know we wonโt get the bigger stuff since they canโt just replace trees in tree bases that are already there. Please raise a stink! Pics from @seanydunne.bsky.social

Bus priority measures for Rochestown Road cannot come soon enough!
Prioritise vehicles carrying 100+ people vs those carrying 1 or 2.
Two nights in a row now, over a busy bank holiday weekend, Bus Eireann have chosen to cancel the hourly 216 service from CUH to Monkstown.
Couple this with a two-hour frequency on the 223 route, and commuters relying on the two services are left stranded.
How is this acceptable?
Imagine catching 50 drivers in a single day in Cork on their phones at the wheel, and still mentioning hi-viz as a so called safety mechanism for vulnerable road users?
Clueless
Why won't Cork City Council replace the missing bollards on Emmett Place?
I have requested this several times now.
MacCurtain Street multi-million euro Public Transport Corridor
Cars driving in the bus lanes
Cars parking in the bus stops
No enforcement
A recipe for disaster and a monumental waste of money - not to mention a slap in the face for public transport commuters.
Quick wins to imporve pedestrian safety and filtered permeability for cyclists in town:
Place three permanent bollards at the junction of Parnell Place and Lapps Quay, where the "bus and cycles only" sign is ignored daily.
Buses haven't used this entrance in several years.

Thanks @tripeanddrisheen.bsky.social for reporting Cork City Council's debate on a directly-elected mayor.
The closeness of the plebiscite five years ago shows the appetite for change โ but devolving powers, not supplanting the role of councillors, may be key.
