Hey #Uglydogs! Rio is healing steadily, but still on a lot of meds that make him very tired so we did this today. Grateful for ever minute with him.

In a statement, Superintendent of Lynn Public Schools Dr. Evonne Alvarez stated that federal agents detained individuals who were not affiliated with the Tracy School. The arrest took place in clear view of students and staff who were arriving at school. Principal Carrie Nicosia ordered a Secure and Hold, bringing all students inside immediately to shield them from further witnessing the incident. The statement read, “This action was taken solely in the interest of protecting students’ social-emotional well-being. Principal Nicosia and her staff handled an extremely difficult situation with the utmost professionalism and compassion.” Alvarez stated that bilingual counseling resources will be available at the Tracy school for anyone wanting to talk.

I just want to reinforce how horrible it is that this happened in front of a school. Lynn has a HUGE immigrant population, and this is going to scare kids who were probably already terrified. My nonprofit does work in Lynn and we have kids in programs who have had parents and friends taken by ICE.

It was 19 years ago this month that we hosted a youth-led press conference at the Massachusetts state house calling for K-12 media literacy classes. It would be great to finally see some movement on this.

Good morning #uglydogs! Need your input. Rio has a plastic cone, but it is too shallow so he can bend his little body so he can lick his incision. We were up all night trying to stop him licking.
Can you offer any suggestions for best cones or clothing that would prevent him from licking? Thnx

Big news, my dear friends, #uglydogs! Rio was sprung from his cell (actually a cozy vet hospital bed) today!!! He's home, with a lot of meds, prescription food, puppy pee pads and a cone of shame. He's home a day early, which is great because the hospital bill will be a bit lower.

He’s “Mr. Social” , he has never met a dog, person or cat that he doesn’t like and he is able to befriend EVERYONE. It astonishing to see.
