Itβs like climate change. The Brexit cost was so obviously off-the-scale insane that any forecast was going to be wrong. Steer away especially from ones that seem to be βnot much to see hereβ

01.12.2025 11:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not just overload protection but individual switches is a minimum these days, as a nearby apartment had a fire from an overloaded plug board.
Do all of the plugs have cables that go down/sideways and not up out the top? Is that what is missing?
I know of a project where over 100,000 people were hired.

Yes it's regressive (for those watching people with lower incomes spend more %income, thus pay more GST as %income)
I see it as a solid part of an _almost_ well balanced tax system.
Company tax is a bit low (but has to be to compete internationally) and we need a proper capital gains tax.
The complexity costs more money than it saves. Deadweight loss. NZ gets rightly kudos for the efficiency of the GST system. Every time a party proposes a GST break on something or other they lose at the polls.

12.09.2025 07:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The best is arguably like Rio, London or Paris - where you get both lifestyle and amazing work. NZ would be more lifestyle, but as a relatively small outpost I'd imagine also getting decent experience at a country level for relatively junior roles. Being the only person here would be pretty amazing.

31.07.2025 06:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0InternetNZ AGM is terrible. Starting 25m late, motions not opening for voting until the agenda item, we can't see the motions, we can't talk, we are mostly on hold and.......
.... it's a fantastic way to make us vote against the status quo.
(It's my second AGM today. This should not be hard)
Formula 1 is the same. Rugby too.
Good companies don't need to sponsor, as we already like them, but I wish they would, and for them to crowd out the bad.
Yup. BMW could have (and could still) dominated the larger EV motorbike space. They are great at building heavy bikes that are easy to handle. (Meanwhile my CE04 is a giggle to ride.)

NZ can do it. This is the Parc, in Auckland city. Itβs better as itβs completely enclosed so no concrete in the middle. The price is better too - but itβs leasehold.
If only there were a simple trick to increase demand. While youβre at it sign long term leases, match to long term mortgages and stop making people move. www.rnz.co.nz/news/busines...

In a world of bad business news, one bit of good news, which is the announcement of the sale of Quantifi Photonics, with founders, staff and seven NZ funds benefiting.
11.03.2025 02:27 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes it's brutal.
At one end are the recruiters for entry level jobs, where they might get thousands of applicants, most of whom are at school and very hard to differentiate. It's impossible to interview them all.
At the other end headhunters are doing the same filtering, but nicer with it.
1: When you get hundreds of applications it's easy to filter out ones that are not in the top 20% of fit, and then it gets hard.
2: But the data lies too - I'm currently filtering Seek applications by reviewing PDFs downloaded from Seek, not by using the aged platform.
Yes taking away the members list destroyed the society's pulse.
Catastrophic leadership since has caused real harm, sucking the soul and energy from the room, causing economic harm and arguably INZ is driving towards its own doom
