I think it's a shame to dismiss Titus as that as well because it's actually a very powerful that is very relevant today. We see such brutality daily on the news, on our social media feeds, and so forth. And it just generates editorials arguing exactly how many children dying constitutes a "crisis".

The violent isn't even especially excessive. It's about on par with Revenge Tragedies from the same period like The Spanish Tragedy and The Jew of Malta. People just don't like to admit that Shakespeare could have ever been populist - which is stupid to deny when The Merry Wives of Windsor exists!
