I've meant to be a lot more active on here, but between research, applying for PhD programs, personal issues, and the expected rigors of grad school I just haven't had the spoons. I think that I have a finished list of 8 schools to apply to now. We'll see!

Trans People Have Disappeared From ICE Records, Against Congressional Orders The Trump administration has made efforts to "erase" transgender people, who face violence and medical neglect behind bars.

It’s really important that people understand this isn’t just a matter of markers. There is no record. Without recognition, not only is there no healthcare, gender-concordant housing, or basic protections against discrimination, for many people they will simply cease to officially exist.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Today, senator Ron Wyden will raise a point of order to remove the Medicaid and CHIP ban on gender affirming care. The Republicans need 60 votes to keep it in but they only have 53. Call your Dem senator today and urge them to vote to strip the ban from the bill. Senate switchboard 202-224-3121.

This is incredibly dangerous and far more likely to result in violence against gender nonconforming cis women.

A conservative federal appeals court banned the Louisiana law which call ms for displaying the Ten Commandments in all classrooms since it violates the 1st Amendment which bars the government from endorsing any religion.

Last day in the archives, with four boxes on reserve and six hours to work. I love doing this kind of work, being in this city, and I'm going to hate leaving tomorrow. Still, I have weeks of digital research and reading secondary sources ahead of me before outline and writing. Let's go!

These documents are precious! They need to last for years, decades - not get crumpled into fragments of nothing because you're lazy! Place them carefully, like a good caretaker of history!!!

I'm still new at this, but I now have an archival pet peeve; when you get a box, pull out each folder in turn and discover that whoever had them last was a careless bafoon who haphazardly stacked the sheets before closing and returning the folder. 1/

I've been diving through the Dick Leitsch papers as part of my research, and I haven't seen this much onion skin paper in my life!
