The cover for the book 'Why Q Needs U' by Danny Bate

With pride, joy and a great deal of nerves, I'd like to reveal the cover for my book 'Why Q Needs U'!, published by @bonnierbooksuk.bsky.social!

I love the cover, with the endorsement from its first reviewer, who also called it "a wonderful achievement" and "just couldn't recommend it more highly".

How great was Tom Lehrer? In 2020, he moved his entire catalog into the public domain because he felt he'd made more than enough money off of it.

I think it’s worth noting this piece generated the most unsubscribes I’ve seen in a while, and the newsletter version had the lowest open rate in many months. These horrors persist in part because too many people go to great pains to avoid them.

Thinking a lot about the Armenian Genocide lately with what’s happening in Gaza. Hundreds of thousands dying of starvation and heatstroke and dehydration, out of sight in the desert while the world’s other “powers” pretend not to notice. No billion-dollar memorials, no Spielberg movies.

Please read this thread and do what you can. 2 million people in Gaza are starving. Unable to stand, they have gone hungry for so long.

I've started a bsky account for "Global Approaches to Early Representations of the Human Figure". @gaerhf-bot.bsky.social . My thread skills need work but I'll look to add groups of figures to that feed on a semi-regular basis. As well as ask for help. I have one query in mind. #ArtHistory #DH

🏺 Still stuck on this and wondering if we will ever see a big archaeology org actually acknowledge this? Even if they have so far pretended that genocide in another part of the world has nothing to do with them, what about this (correct) identification of complicity in its facilitation?

If I’ve come to any conclusion about politics, from my perspective as an anthropologist, it’s that while we shame people for many silly things, shame per se, shunning, etc. are actually incredibly powerful kinds of punishment for fucking up the social order and shame needs a comeback.

Please keep donating and sharing this fundraiser - unfortunately my friend who has been the main driving force behind this has been put on some popular blocklists, making it even harder for this to get reach.
