A series of pixelated sprites, tagged: "Sprites of Mario from various ports of Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Junior, and Mario Bros to non-Nintendo systems." Pictured below are the same sprites re-drawn in a cell-shade style with additional detail. Each has a name. The following is the name of each non-standard Mario and a brief visual description:
Stuart. A doughy boy in lavender overalls and upturned cap. He has no discernable eyes or mouth.
Dorn. A mustachio’d man wearing a red onesie and cap. He appears disgruntled.
Montpelier. A somewhat normal looking Mario performing a pirouette with his eyes closed.
Data corrupted. A terrifying monstrosity with a sickly pink body and a ghostly white head. Its face is distorted, and it appears to have a vestigial wing attached to its stubby arm.
Phoomp. A blocky Mario in a solid red jumpsuit and cap covering his eyes.
Grandpa Jo. A bird-like Mario in a red cap, red overalls and a neon green shirt, with neon green hair and mustache. His skin is a sickening orange and his stance is that of a dinosaur's.
Bendul. A non-descript person of ambiguous gender with blue hair, orange cap and jumpsuit, and a black vest with tennis shoes.
Charles D Mario. The closest thing to actual Mario that appears on this list, only he's a little squished.
Yer buddy. A sleazy Mario pointing at Harold and side-eyeing you in a knowing way.
Harold. Harold is not a Mario - he is just a cowboy with a crowbar.
Scungle. A short purple alien creature with beady black eyes and a squarish blue cap.
Crazy Rosco. A vagrant wearing a blue jumpsuit, large red sneakers, a floppy red hat, wielding what looks like a busted tailpipe.
Oswold. A ghostly Mario with an amorphous red body, a red bowler hat, and a chin curtain. He is frowning.
Muppet Waluigi. It's Waluigi, but if he were reimagined as a sad muppet.
Umberto. An astonished Mario who appears to have just witnessed the birth of Cthulhu.
Kevin. A large 80s poster child for retro karate games. He is completely yellow.
