01.12.2024 04:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I took an e-bike share today and agree. I would have got more exercise on the non-electric option but when youβre actually trying to get somewhere itβs hard to beat electric assist.
Itβs still a great workout, just lower intensity and more consistent.
Legitimately better for cyclists and drivers with the controlled left turns.
There are a few signals that still havenβt been updated (between Bathurst and Spadina) but otherwise itβs great.

27.11.2024 19:12 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, the message should be clear: if they wonβt work together to defeat Ford, theyβre responsible for his repeat majority.
27.11.2024 17:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Plan A can be made a lot more palatable by doing it for a smaller number of ridings and trading an equal number between ONDP and OLP based on which is more likely to win.
This benefits everyone except the specific candidates that need to step back from running.
Yep, this is painfully obvious but it feels like thereβs nothing we can do to convince them to work together.
If the NDP and Libs pulled candidates from an equal number of ridings they could form a government pretty easily. But they wonβt, so we get Ford.
And I donβt hate cars! I worked in EV / hybrid powertrain and have been involved in automotive security for years.
But we need infrastructure that encourages less of them in busy places and keeps us safe from the people behind the wheel.
Besides, *nobody* likes driving in Downtown Toronto.
When the @theglobeandmail.comβs car guy agrees that bike lanes are good, maybe removing them is a huge mistake.
Great article by @mattbubbers.bsky.social.

Err, more like 1/5th, but hey, letβs assume some budget overruns on the bike lane removal π€·ββοΈ
26.11.2024 03:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs crazy that for about 1/10th of the price of ripping up bike lanes we can nearly double the size of the bike share network.
This has to be the best bang for buck public transport project, and Bill 212 will make it far less appealing to use.
So this is how we get traffic calming on Bloor post-bike lane removal?
26.11.2024 00:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If the bike lanes come out on Bloor, prepare for a *huge* influx of e-bikes on the sidewalk. Itβs a major route for food delivery and theyβre not taking detours for better infrastructure.
They probably still wonβt kill you though.

Cyclists should consider carrying one of these devices for safety purposes.
If you come across a car crash while cycling, you can quickly and safely break the vehicleβs glass to help the occupants escape.
Remember, road safety is everyoneβs responsibility!

We knew it was going to pass, so I guess itβs done now. Time to see if the city has some plans to stall, and what happens next I guess.
Now thereβs a good measurement of inflation!
24.11.2024 22:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nice bike! My current city bike is an old Raleigh MTB that I paid $40 for a year ago.
Bikes are the cheapest form of transit.
I once made some American friends ride an extra 4 km so I could hit a round 100 km.
Their computers were all in miles.
Getting over the Don and Humber rivers and the west end rail requires a significant detour without Bloor.
Bypassing Bloor GO means going north to Dupont or south to Dundas. Those are significant detours.
The only way to defeat ford.
NDP, Liberals, and Greens are complicit in Fordβs actions if they donβt get this done.
